Served as a member on a visiting team in 2002 to The American School, Riyadh, SA. I was responsible for
Music and the Performing Arts.
Served as Committee member and team leader when International School Dhaka undertook self assessment

Currently teaching Primary music through Pre-Reception-Yr 6. I teach lessons using skills based and PYP
UOI collaboration. The school has adopted the use of iPads as part of a Blended Learning approach. As such
I am familiar with all the latest applications plus the use of Managebac, Moodle and edmodo.

During my first year in this school I taught Year 2. We followed six UOI as required by the PYP.
I then took the opportunity to move and assume the role of Primary Music teacher. I teach music from pre-
school to Year 6. Students have access to Orf instruments and I use this approach when appropriate. There are
enough keyboards to allow students to work in pairs. There is a Gamellan set and I have started a ukulele
group. I play French Horn in the Senior Silver band and provided music and assistance for the Junior Choir. I
wrote and adapted music for Primary productions.
August 2011-13
International School Dhaka, Bashundara
Taught class music through Grades 4-8 using both PYP and MYP programs.
Implemented Band program using Accent on Achievement as source book. Students are playing a variety of
wind instruments, some of which they have purchased. Trumpet, French Horn, saxophone E flat and B flat,
flute, clarinet and trombone are taught.

• Taught all subjects required by the school as it initially tried to implement the PYP. This was proving
difficult and so the school purchased the IPC. This will be introduced beginning September 2010.
• Taught music throughout the Primary school. Taught English to Grade 4. Took Grade 5 on week study
and activity trip to England.

• Class teacher for fifteen Year 4/5/6/7 students.
• All subjects so that a well-balanced curriculum was available for such a wide variety of students.

• Taught all classes from Year 2 to Year 6. I have devised a course which has built on the strengths of
previous work. There is a fusion with elements of the English National Curriculum and the
International Curriculum Project which is being introduced into the school. The IPC is used where
appropriate and I have also adapted the Carousel Music course. As such I consider the course to
provide a thorough grounding in all aspects of music, both practical and theoretical. I teach basic
musical skills in keyboard, recorder and singing to all classes.
• Taught brass to students from Year 5 and Year 6 who are learning the Trumpet, Trombone, Tenor Horn
and Cornet leading to the Associated Board Royal Schools of Music examinations.
• I worked closely with all thirty teachers including the Head of Music (Secondary department) and the
music teacher (Infants school). I developed a wind-band and choir.
• Used the Sibelius computer program to write and adapt music.
• Assisted Year groups with all musical productions that numbered four or more a year.
• Involved the school choir in joint concerts with other schools in Qatar.
• Taught singing with whole year groups using SINGBOOK and other source materials.

Publications : The International School of Tanganyika’s first Year Book. It is a school of over a
thousand pupils and every pupil had their photo in it. There were articles concerning the President of
the country, Julius Nyere, and the school drama productions.

September 2004-June 2008 Al Khor International School (British Stream), Qatar (900 students K-13) Head of Music (specialist) Key Stage 2 • Taught all classes from Year 2 to Year 6. I have devised a course which has built on the strengths of previous work. There is a fusion with elements of the English National Curriculum and the International Curriculum Project which is being introduced into the school. The IPC is used where appropriate and I have also adapted the Carousel Music course. As such I consider the course to provide a thorough grounding in all aspects of music, both practical and theoretical. I teach basic musical skills in keyboard, recorder and singing to all classes.
  • 3. • Taught brass to students from Year 5 and Year 6 who are learning the Trumpet, Trombone, Tenor Horn and Cornet leading to the Associated Board Royal Schools of Music examinations. • I worked closely with all thirty teachers including the Head of Music (Secondary department) and the music teacher (Infants school). I developed a wind-band and choir. • Used the Sibelius computer program to write and adapt music. • Assisted Year groups with all musical productions that numbered four or more a year. • Involved the school choir in joint concerts with other schools in Qatar. • Taught singing with whole year groups using SINGBOOK and other source materials. September 2003-July 2004 Bell Farm Junior School Hersham, Surrey (UK) Class Teacher Year 5 • I taught a class of 30 students the full range of subjects as expected in an English Junior school following the National Curriculum. August 1999-June 2003 International School Dhaka (Bangladesh) Head of Music and Performing Arts 2001-2003 • Taught music to students from Nursery to Year 8. • Introduced instrumental lessons for flute, clarinet, French horn, trumpet and the piano. • Directed a number of musical productions and wrote music as required. Coordinated with the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music to introduce their examination procedures in the school. We achieved very high scores in 2003 with distinctions and merits amongst entrants. Chairman of Middle School sub committee • ISD was preparing for an ECIS/NEASC Accreditation visit 2004 and this subcommittee was charged with collecting all documents relating to the Middle school curriculum. • Member of the Accreditation Steering Committee. Member of the Finance Sub Committee. Publications : The International School of Tanganyika’s first Year Book. It is a school of over a thousand pupils and every pupil had their photo in it. There were articles concerning the President of the country, Julius Nyere, and the school drama productions. • Articles for the International Schools magazine published by the European Council for International Schools. • Languages : Spanish (spoken) Extra-curricula activities: Hockey, soccer, cricket, drama, music Interests and activities : Amateur dramatics, music, choir, sports to include hockey, soccer and cricket, diving (sub aqua).
