EXPLORING SPACE
 BY RYAN HANSEN
First steps

 First steps means the first steps of exploring
  space

The first satellites to explore space are Sputnik1
  Sputnik2 Explorer6 Tiros1 and Echo1

 The first living creature to go into space was
Laika the dog who traveled in Sputnik2
Space Race

Yuri Gagarin was the first soviet astronaut and
the first human to explore space in April,12
  1961
 On May 5, 1961 Alan Sheaperd became the
first American in space his space craft blasted
off and came back down after traveling 302
  miles.
 After the fail with Alen sheperd john Glenn a
year later orbited earth 3 times in the
  friendship 7
Space Race

 Project Gemini was about people learning to
live In space. The astronauts could leave their
spaceships and float hundreds miles above
  earth
 They practiced docking an unmanned
spaceship this was important because it
would be used to land on the moon
To The Moon
 This chapter is about trying to get to the moon.
 The question was how would man land on the moon
the answer was the Apollo program.
 They soon tested the spaceship that would soon
take man to the moon but could it get them there?
 Apollo 8 proved that we could and Apollo 9 proved
the astronauts to stay in orbit and test the
spacecraft that would soon take man to the moon.
 The Lunar Module was built for one purpose only –
to send two astronauts( Neil Armstrong and Buzz
Aldrin) down to the moon’s surface and back to their
spaceship after the astronauts explored the moon
they blasted of the moons surface and then they
docked the ship and prepared for the trip back home
To The Moon

 Neil Armstrong at 4.17was the first man on
the moon he took lots of samples of rocks
  and soil
 It was a small step for man and a huge step
  for mankind
 Unlucky 13 was supposed to land on the
moon but on the way an accidental explosion
damaged the ship it orbited the moon and
  came back down
The Space Shuttle

This chapter is about trying to build a spacestaion
 Since then America was ahead in the space race.
Scientists hoped to build a space station . This would
be a spot for astronauts to live and learn more about
space. First they had to figure out how to get the
astronauts, supplies and equipment to the space
station the answer was the space shuttle this was
the first spacecraft that could be used more than
once. It took off like all other spacecrafts but it lands
  like a plane.
 All the shuttles were named Columbia, Challenger,
Discovery, Atlantis was the last shuttle built
Other Planets And Beyond

 This chapter is about other planets that no
  people have ever explored
 No human has ever explored other planets
but unmanned spacecrafts have like the mars
  rovers.
 Cassini-Huygens spacecraft recently sent
back pictures of Saturn largest moon Titan. It
  will soon land on Titan.
 The Hubble spacecraft is the largest
  telescope in the world
Answers Hot Q’s
Yes because it is a one
in a lifetime thing
                           Space travel is very
                            expensive and dangerous is
Yes because she was a it worth it.
living thing
 Was lakias death a waste.
Yes because I don’t  Would you make a good
freak out a lot
                            astronaut
I would explore space  If you could explore space or
because you could go
snorkeling in the sea the sea which would you
                            choose.
