2. The Impact of Genre on Music Videos
• The genre or topic of a music video determines what
the video is all about.
• Producers consider very carefully the theme or
subject of music videos that best suits an artist or
musician.
• Analysing genre examines whether people's
expectations differ regarding how music lyrics
affect individual behaviour as a function of music
genre and the influence it has on audiences.

3. THE GENRE OF RnB
• RnB/ Rap lyrics are chanted and accompanied
by rhythmic music.
• The lyrics of rap songs are usually easy to
comprehend. Rap lyrics, which sometimes
contain objectionable language, often
expound on the problems of urban life.
• Sometimes including themes of sex, drug use,
misogyny, or violence.

4. RnB Music and Media Influences
• RnB and Rap lyrics often express themes of
alienation and powerlessness among youth.
• Rap music has been the focus of negative media
attention.
• The media have suggested that rap lyrics
promote Satanism, bigotry, sexism, violence,
suicide, reckless behaviour, drug use, deviant
sexual activity, rape, and murder.
• Moreover, if a rap star (e.g., Snoop Dog) exhibits
antisocial behaviour, the media are more likely
to link such an incident to rap music.

the public may form an expectation that
heavy metal and rap lyrics are more likely
than lyrics from other genres to cause
listeners to engage in antisocial behaviours.

expectations with audiences.
