2. MUSIC VIDEO
‘Love Me Harder’, is the 2nd single from Ariana Grande’s second
album; ‘My Everything’. It features vocals from rapper The Weeknd,
and, subsequently blurring the lines between the Pop and R&B
genres.
The video was released on the 3rd November 2014.

3. LOCATIONS
The music video is shot entirely in a studio, made to look like an old
abandoned house. Ariana’s vocals are mainly shown in a large room,
where there’s sand covering the floor, and the furniture is positioned
in ‘random’ places.
The Weeknd’s vocals are shot mainly in front of a wall, with high
contrast lighting and in black and white, or on a staircase, with the
lighting coming from behind.

4. PROPS
There were very few props used in this music video. There were
pieces of furniture placed around the room in which the video was
filmed, and the room was also covered in sand. Besides this
however, there were none. They weren't especially necessary in this
style of video.

5. COSTUMES
The costumes in this video were black, and each person only had one, thus
keeping the video consistent. It is important for male R&B artists to remain
on trend, and The Weeknd’s outfit ensures he is viewed in the most idealistic
way. The same goes for Ariana, as her black two piece fit the style of the
video and give her a sexual edge, without being overly provocative.

6. EDITING
The editing was done in an ‘MTV’ style, to appeal to the target
audience of 15 – 25 year olds. The cuts between scenes are made
on the beats of the song, subsequently making them very quick cuts.
The most noticeable editing, is where lense flare and lighting has
been edited or enhanced, making the footage look more interesting.
Time lapse is a prominent effect used in scenes throughout the music
video when the video cuts away from the singers.
