-  ï I am here today to present a plan for change in our school. We have a good school, but our world is changing and we need to make sure that we are keeping pace in order to give our students the best possible education and prepare them for life once they leave this place.
- Our world is changing at a mind-boggling pace. Itâs hard to keep up, but we need to try.
-  ï I would like to propose that we increase our budget spending in the area of technology.  ï Our computers are outdated, our network is unreliable, and only a few teachers are attempting to use technology in their classrooms. We need to become intentional in our use of technology. Our technology plan must be one that gets used; it cannot just sit in some file cabinet somewhere.

- Many College Students Lack Needed Tech Skills When students enter college, they either have it or they don't. And which side of the digital divide they fall on may well shape their identities and what route they take into careers, suggests a new study. "Even though there is no prerequisite for knowing about technology to get to the university level -- there are requirements for math, science and other things -- there is no technology prerequisite," she said. "But once you walk onto campus, you can't enroll in classes, you can't get financial aid, you can't get onto Blackboard (a widely used electronic education software suite), you can't answer emails. If you have no technology knowledge, you will not even survive the first week at most university campuses."

- Already this generation has embraced new technology: the phones, the social networks, gaming. They approach technology without fear â now we need to get them learning the stuff that will really help them later in life.
- One of our goals as a school is to create self-directed learners. If we constantly manage their learning in all areas, they will never learn to learn independently. Project-based learning and constructivist education are aided by technology. Independent learning is often more stressful and difficult for students, but the difficulty will create a tension that fosters learning, followed by confidence, and resulting in self-directed learners. When students discover the joy of learning - the joy of learning something new that they had in the early grades - then youâve achieved something great!
- Increasingly, global teams are required to learn to work effectively in the absence of regular face-to-face interactions. More and more businesses are structured in teams. Students need to be taught to work together, to practice working together, and to learn the tools that allow them to collaborate online.
- For example, interactive video programs have been demonstrated to increase problem-solving skills. Students across nine states who used Jasper video software as a centerpiece for mathematics instruction for three to four weeks were compared with students who did not. The comparative research demonstrated that the students in classrooms who used the Jasper video programs were better able to complete complex problem-solving tasks (Cognition and Technology Group, 1992).
