3. How did we get here?
• Jack read the book “Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie” in 2009 and was
inspired to shave his head to help kids with cancer, mimicking the
book
• 2009 A virtual shave which raised $1200
• 2010 First public shave which raised $3200
• 2010 Caught the attention of the Chattanooga Market, received
invitation to have event at the Market
• 2010 Partnered with the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger to be the
face of a citywide shave event
• 2011 First Jack’s Chattanoggins (6/26/11) raised over $18,000
4. Children’s Hospital
• Pediatric Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at
Children’s Hospital is the only comprehensive oncology unit
in the region
• Serves over 3,500 patients each year
• This year alone, more than 50 Chattanooga area children
will be diagnosed with cancer; 95% will choose to stay at
Children’s Hospital for treatment.
• Children’s Hospital follows the same cutting edge
treatment protocols shared by other top children’s hospital
across the country.
