Requesting links starts from developing a relationship with the person, so the last thing to do is request a link in the first email, it's just one of those commandments of being a blogger!!
1. How To Request Links From Bloggers

2. Getting links from fellow bloggers doesn’t have to be
daunting.
• If done ethically and organically, you should be able to generate high
quality back links, giving your blog a nice presence and a decent
amount of traffic. Depending on how well your known in the blogging
sphere, you've probably received these kinds of emails asking you to
post a link to your site on their blog. Requesting links starts from
developing a relationship with the person, so the last thing to do is
request a link in the first email, it's just one of those commandments of
being a blogger!!
3. Links from Bloggers? Show Me The Ropes
• Be human - Using automated systems to get back links is probably
hands-down the absolutely best way to get black-listed! Be authentic in
your efforts. Show other bloggers what your goals are. Show an interest
in their goals as well.
• Be truthful- YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUH... Some people can't but in
the blogging sphere, getting links is about honesty and upfrontness
(new word)
4. Links from Bloggers? Show Me The Ropes
• Be specific - Have you ever read something or listened to someone speak
and your saying in your head, "get to the point already" or "what in the white
bricks is this person talking about". Be very upfront and straight to the
point in your emails and communications to other bloggers.
• Be polite - If I sent an email, saying "hey, give me a link, I'll link back" I'll
send a nice little email (blank nothing in it) and you'll probably be
scratching your head wondering why I sent you a blank email, it's because
the request was rude and unprofessional
• Be interesting - DON'T BE BORING... Most people will only read the first few
lines in your post, so you only have a small window to grab your readers
attention. The best way to get them to read further into your email, is to
have an eye-popping headline (well not literally, because if your eyes pop
out you won't be able to read the email any way), and secondly a grand
slam thank you ma'am opening.
5. The Wrap Up
• Of all the suggestions, the point I want to drive home is to be authentic
and interesting. Be honest with yourself and about your goals. More
importantly, develop relationships with fellow bloggers and in the end
you'll see that getting links is not like pulling teeth but more like
brushing them.
