The document contains feedback from Charlotte Shaw on 5 initial recipe card ideas. The ideas focus on different target audiences including older generations, students, children, those looking to become vegetarian, and singles. The feedback provides suggestions on what is liked about each idea, areas for improvement, and what is found interesting. Charlotte agrees that font details and finishing techniques need more specifics. While mixed media on children's cards could be messy, laminating prevents this. Advertising may not require a strong focus but social media could work for students. Charlotte's favorite idea is recipe cards for children and parents to use as a learning tool. The favorite among the group's ideas is family meals incorporating tips for all ages.
2. Idea 1
British Classics/ Afternoon Tea,
Would be targeted at the older generation and bringing them closer to ideas and foods surrounding vegetarian
foods, possibly taking ideas from garden party/jubliee celebrations, giving it a sense of community and these
foods bringing people together. The recipes will be made by ourselves and photographed by use to, as we feel
that we can do a good enough standard, and the key aspect to this will be the presentations and making sure
they look professional, high quality foods. When creating these images we could luck including props and
extras in the photographs to make it more suitable for the theme such as teacups and old china, checked
fabrics and hampers. As the ideas would be based around British foods we would look in incorporate the 3
patriotic colours of red, white and blue. The types of food that we will to include I our recipes will be both
savoury and sweet, including homemade vegetarian sandwiches, salads and finger food. On the sweet side we
would luck to include cakes, biscuits and desserts.
3. Feedback 1
What do you like about the idea?
I like that the food will help bring more people together like a community. By
using a theme e.g. Jubilee it will help to inspire people when they are cooking
or making the products. By having the red, blue and white theme I think it will
really go well with the British theme. This idea is also good as it incorporates
different food products which will meet everyone’s needs.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
Properly say how you are going to make the products and how you will
present them to the right target audience. Also specify which age group this
kind of theme would go with e.g. family or couples etc.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
I find it interesting how the British foods link well with the royal family and
how they have influenced the way great Britain works. It adds culture and
more excitement to the product.
4. Idea 2
• Quick meals made easy for busy students
These types of recipes would be created for younger generation and for those at university or college, because
as students they want something that is quick and cheap to make, which I something that we would aim to
create. As well as been tasty it would also be nutritious, to keep fit and healthy. The types of colours that we
would look to corporate would be lots of bright colours to make it attractive and stand out for those on the go.
As well as using a strong influence of green to reflect the vegetarian nature of the food chosen. These cards will
not be gender specific so making sure that they appear to both male and female in the colours, photography ad
presentation of the recipes cards will be key. These cards will also include helpful tips and guidance, as well as
other opinion of things to try with the recipe which will work well for students as they can easily change the
seasonings and flavour, to make a slight difference. These tips could be cu away from the recipe cards in a die
cut to give this extra information. The types of food that will be included will all be savoury style foods, with
foods from quick pizzas, noodles and salads.
5. Feedback 2
What do you like about the idea?
This is a good idea because students don’t have much money at all so to give
guidance and recipe to students it will really help them to be healthier and on
the right path to a balanced diet. The layout sounds great by having bright
colours but not gender related, this is good as it will fit to everyone’s tastes.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
Probably think of ways to advertise to that audience, e.g. radio as lots of
young people listen to that in their spare time or in shops where you could
leave leaflets about how to keep healthy etc.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
The interesting part is that the foods are quite known to be fatty and not
good for you, this would normally appeal to students because it’s quick and
easy foods. By having a healthier version it means they can have the foods
they want but nicer and healthier.
6. Idea 3
• Food made easy for children to get involved
with
From a young age children like to learn and do new things, so creating recipes that both parent and child can
do together is a fun and interactive way for then to learn and develop there skills and get them tasting and
touching new things. As a recipe card suited for the younger generation having some sort of mascot will help
the child to follow the recipe and could branch out into other products in the future encouraging children to try
new foods. The colours for this type of recipe card would use bright colour scheme following the main primary
colours which will help to make it eye catching and stand out and for younger children they will be able to pick
out these key colours, when it comes to the presentation it could be made to look like it is written on lined
paper which would help make it topical and appropriate. These recipe cards would be suitable for both the
summer and winter months, with products such as ice lollies make from fruit, and different cakes and biscuits
decorated in different ingredients and shapes. These recipe cards will also include safety precautions and
things to be weary of when it comes to cooking and cutting. These recipe cards may also include mixed media
when it comes to putting the different elements together to make these cards look more creative and child like
the title of reach recipe card could also be achieved in mixed media too. However, the photography will be
need when it comes to giving a step by step instructions of what to do, by showing a photograph of each step
which will also help to illustrate each step.
7. Feedback 3
What do you like about the idea?
The colour scheme is a good way to get the child's attention but not distract
them enough to draw attention away from the food and ingredients. The
mascot is the perfect way to get the child involved and encourage them to eat
healthier.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
Not much information about the layout of the card or the little details like the
font type.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
The mixed media element. It could be a bit of a messing thing to have in a
preparation area but it will get the children interested in the card and its
content.
8. Idea 4
• Becoming a vegetarian
These recipes will be created for those that are thinking of becoming a vegetarian, showing some basic recipes
that they could think of using, as well as including some small facts and figures about vegetarians. There
will be no finalised idea the target market as it could be targeted at any one from teenager years to adults
or the older generation
9. Feedback 4
What do you like about the idea?
The cards are educational to non vegetarians and helps to advertise the idea
of becoming apart of the vegetarian society. The idea of having facts and
figures on the card can help to educate the public about vegetarianism.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
The idea is very vague, needs some more detail about colours and layout.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
The target audience is so large, it can be quite hard to appeal to a large
number of people at the same time but because the audience is so large the
recipes and colours used can be vary and it can be easier to produce the cards
if they are basic.
10. Idea 5
• meals for one
Theses recipe cards will include a variety of different savoury and sweet foods, from around the world, such as
Italian, Chinese and Indian, with each recipe cards having a different theme to it surrounding that type of
food. These cards will be aimed at those in a place of work, and can be adapted for lunch and evening
meals. As it will be targeting adults the presentation will be created to look elegant and classy as the
people that are likely to be interested in these types of recipe cards could be business men and women or
busy working students for those on the go.
11. Feedback 5
What do you like about the idea?
Using different foods from around the world. A wide range of cuisines can be very
appealing and interesting. The idea of making the meals adaptable for lunch or
tea/dinner is a good idea. I doesn’t limit the audience to what they can produce.
Aiming it for meals to take to work can help people eat healthier as they mostly
take ready meals or get fast food. It can also help people save money.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
The type of font used needs to be added and a bit more detail about the
meals/recipes. Also what type of images will you use? Photographs or sketches
etc.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
Appealing to the single people/meals for one. A lot of recipe cards are for 2 or
more and the person would have to divide the amount of ingredients they need
and make a note before making the meal so having a recipe that they don’t have
to do any maths to get the right portion is great!
12. Summary of Feedback
What do you agree with from your feedback?
I feel that the feedback for all 5 of my ideas was well received and have helped me to
develop my ideas future in order to create something more accurate for the target
market, something that popped up a lot was what types of font that I will use for the
recipe cards, so this detail needs to be included most likely to be in a sans serif font as
it is easier and clearer to read for all ages from young to old. Possibly looking into
what effects I can include to the recipe cards once finished such as laminates, die
cutting and embossing to make them look more interesting and expensive.
What do you disagree with from your feedback?
When reading into my feedback from other members of my group I feel that most of
my feedback was positive and shows ways of improving which I take onboard.
However, when talking about including mixed media for the recipe card and title page
of idea 3 it would then get laminated which would restrict the amount of mess
especially when made to be wiped clean when working with children. Another aspect
is disagree with is from idea 2 and the use of adverting via the radio, as I feel that
advertising doesn’t need to be taken as strongly into consideration but if so using
social network sites to link to those students and people at work.
13. Idea Evaluation
Which idea that you came up with is your favourite and why?
Out of the 5 ideas I have created I feel most happy with my third idea which are
vegetarian recipes that are aimed for children and there parents and so it can be seen
as learning tool used at home and school. I also like the use of the mascot to tie and
formulate all my ideas together, which also makes children more eger to learn new
things as they will pick up different skills, and been able to learn new things and
foods, but overall feel happy with the amount of detail I have put into this initial idea.
Which idea, that your team came up with, is your favourite and why?
From reading ideas from other members of the group, I feel that the idea surrounding
family meals is also a strong idea too as It combines recipes that are suitable and can
be adapted for different ages from the young to old within the family unit. I also liked
the fact that the recipe cards would be laminated making them durable and wipe
clean while in the kitchen. this idea also looks at including helpful tips and guidance
whether this is to adapt the original recipe or the ingredients and presentation of
these foods, and so making some cards for vegetarians that target the family market
is popular in the current market and these recipes need to be long lasting and cheap
to make.
