2. Engineering has been an aspect of life since the
beginnings of human existence. The earliest practice
of civil engineering may have commenced between
4000 and 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Civil Engineering is the second-oldest engineering
discipline after Military Engineering.
Civil Engineering is a professional engineering
discipline that deals with the design, construction, and
maintenance of the physical and naturally built
environment, including works like roads, bridges,
canals, dams, and buildings. (ASCE)

12. Engineer’s Day is celebrated on 15th September to pay tribute to Dr.
M.Visvesvaraya, on his birth anniversary.
On this occasion, faculty & student members of SBST take up a socially relevant
subject aimed towards contributing to the welfare of society.
Study is done through a survey carried out by the student body in & around
Ahmedabad and analysis is done for the same.
The outcome of the study is presented on 15th September before a panel of
experts

14. The students’ of SBST started this Techno Cultural
festival in 2004. The momentum of the festival got
enhanced with students’ participating form all
over the country.
The festival varies from technical events such as
Paper presentation, quizzes to fun filed games
and skits.
It is purely organized by the students and is a
boost to them in terms of participation and
management.
Technical papers by our students have been published in National & International Journals.
Viz. International Journal of Innovative Technology & Creative Engineering, & CECR (Civil
Engineering & Construction Review)

34. Master's in Technology in Infrastructure Engineering Design
Infrastructure is an integral part of the society and plays a vital
role in its economic and social development. In a developing
country like India, infrastructure development has become an
integral part of our growth story creating a strong need of
professionals in the infrastructure sector.
The primary objective of M. Tech in Engineering Design
(Infrastructure) (MIED) is to cater to this demand of infrastructure
industry and produce professional with specific skill sets aligned
with industry needs. MIED program aims to combine
infrastructure engineering and design enabling students to add
complimentary aspects such as infrastructure planning, financing,
and management.
37. It is a discipline neutral/ interdisciplinary study.
Geomatics, also known as geoinformatics, is the science and
technology of gathering, analysing, interpreting, distributing and
using geographic information.
Geomatics extends into more contemporary methods including
Global Positioning System, Digital Photogrammetry, LiDAR
Technology, qualitative and quantitative analysis of satellite and
aerial imagery specific to earth sciences and environmental
applications.
38. The academic outcome of the course at national and regional level
brings out
(i) skilled and technically trained manpower for adapting geo-
spatial techniques,
(ii) inter-disciplinary field for sustainable development and careful
management of resources.
