The cause is of hematochezia is usually due to blood in the
rectum or stool, cause by:

 Hemorrhoids
 Diverticulitis
 Infection of the intestines
 Ulcerative colitis
Hematochezia should be treated according to the
underlying condition

examination of the Large
bowel and distal small
bowel by a flexible
fiberscope called a
colonoscope. Polyps and
small growths can be
removed during this
procedure
