A web-based application is any application that uses a web
browser as a client.
A Web-based application refers to any program that is accessed
over a network connection using HTTP, rather than existing within a
device’s memory.
The term may also mean a computer software application that is
coded in a browser-supported programming language (such
as JavaScript, combined with a browser-rendered markup
language like HTML) and reliant on a common web browser to
render the application executable.
Web applications are popular due to the ubiquity of web browsers,
and the convenience of using a web browser as a client. The ability
to update and maintain web applications without distributing and
installing software on potentially thousands of client computers is a
key reason for their popularity, as is the inherent support for crossplatform compatibility. Common web applications include webmail,
online retail sales, online auctions, wikis and many other functions.

based application, which is run through OS(windows, linux,
mac).
When developing applications for internal use, requirements
are different than those for external applications. Most
companies have some form of desktop standardization to
lower their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). This means that

Windows-based applications, sometimes called Thick Client
applications, often make more sense in an Intranet setting
because they can offer a more robust Graphical User
Interface (GUI) and better features that increase your
employees' productivity. Simple things like keyboard

user interface controls can make all the difference in the
usability of an application.
