– Consider SBI 3C1 (College Biology); SVN 3M1/E1
(Environmental Science); SES 4U1 (Earth and
Space Science)
Biology:SBI3U1—prerequisite: SNC2D1/LSBI 3CI—prerequisite: SNC2D1/L or SNC2P1Chemistry:SCH3U1—prerequisite: SNC2D1/LSCH3UE: this is the pre-AP course that will prepare students to take the SCH4UE AP Chemistry course in grade 12. Biology:SBI4U1—prerequisite: SBI 4U1. Special Notes: Grade 11 Chemistry is NOT a pre-requisite for this course, although unit 1 of grade 11 chemistry will be helpful. If you are thinking of fast tracking through the sciences, I would suggest taking grade 10 science and grade 11 chemistry in the same year. Followed by grade 11 biology and grade 12 chemistry.Chemistry:SCH4U1—prerequisite: SCH 3U1 or SCH 3UE (pre-AP)SCH4UE: this is the AP course that will prepare students to write the AP Chemistry exam in May. An SHSM is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements to graduate from secondary school. It also assists in their transition after graduation to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplaceA bundle of nine Grade 11 and Grade 12 credits in which students earn:Four health and wellness major creditsOne English credit, one math credit and one science course tailored to include units focused on health and wellnessTwo cooperative education credits to gain workplace experience that enables students to refine, extend and practice sector-specific knowledge and skillsExperiential learning, career exploration and reach ahead activities within the sectorCertifications and training programs/courses in first aid, CPR, infection control and hazardous materialsEssential Skills and work habits required in the sector
