The Learning Resources Center at Black Hawk College, East Campus has three departments: the library, Independent Learning Center, and Media Services. The Independent Learning Center is available for make-up tests and Study Unlimited classes, with testing hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The LRC also has new books, a popular fiction collection thanks to a donation, computers with Microsoft Office and internet access, newspapers and magazines, DVDs for checkout, and televisions and DVD/VCR players for viewing movies.

5. Independent Learning Center Need to take a make-up test? Taking a Study Unlimited class? Then you will need to find your way to the Independent Learning Center (ILC). Please remember to bring a photo ID with you. Testing hours: Monday – 9 am-Noon Tuesday – 3 pm-7 pm Wednesday – 9 am-Noon Thursday – 3 pm-7 pm Friday – 9 am-Noon Closed Saturday and Sunday

6. New book shelf Check out the new book shelf in the LRC to find out what we’ve received recently. We also welcome suggestions for books to order.

7. Popular fiction collection Thanks to a generous donation, we have a nice collection of popular fiction titles from authors such as James Patterson and Nelson DeMille.

8. Computers The LRC has six computers available for public use. The computers are installed with Microsoft Office 2007 and have internet access.

9. Newspapers We subscribe to a number of local newspapers in addition to the Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal. The current issue is on display. Lift the shelves for back issues.

10. Magazines and journals The library has a large selection of magazines. We feature a number of agriculture and equine related publications as well as other general publications such as Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated. Current issues do not circulate. Back issues can be found by lifting the shelves.

11. Books The library has a number of books in all different subjects. Feel free to browse our shelves or search for specific books using the library catalog.

12. DVD’s for checkout We’ve got a nice collection of DVD’s available for 3-day checkout. Bored or have some free time? Stop in and take a look to see what is available.

13. TV’s, VCR’s and DVD Players Need to watch a movie for a class? The LRC has two televisions with DVD players and VCR’s tucked away in a quiet location where you can view movies.
