in January and a mock internal examination for paper (6CHO5) at the beginning of May.
External Exams: Students take the Edexcel Board examinations Paper 4 (6CHO4) and Paper
5 (6CHO5) examinations in June. Unit 6 (6CHO6) is an external assessment of practical skills
which is carried out at the end of the year.
Homework: A minimum of two assignments per week.
Assessment Policy: A graded test will be given every four to six weeks. Students will also be
given regular synoptic style questions to evaluate their understanding of some concepts.

Course contents: Students use colour, form, texture, pattern and different materials and
processes to communicate what they see, feel and think. It allows the students to discover the

Coursework: Coursework at A2 (unit 3) incorporates two elements: Practical work and a
written Personal study, which takes the form of a critical written response to a negotiated
starting point of significant artistic interest. The two elements should be seen as integrally
connected and supporting each other. The deadline for completion of coursework is 1 February.
External Exams: The external 12 hour art exam will be conducted over two days, under exam
conditions set by Edexcel.
Homework: Homework is issued and marked every week, and it forms important links with
class work. As the year goes on homework is focused more on the completion of coursework
pieces, and the development of the sketchbook. It is vital that students understand that
‘everything’ they do over the 1 year course will be marked, and as such may affect their grade.
Assessment Policy: The exam at A2 (unit 4) is an externally set theme which following the
preparatory period (as in GCSE and AS) culminates in a 12 hour terminal exam. Assessment
Objectives are shared with AS and whilst very similar to GCSE expect a greater depth of
understanding and enquiry.
Recommendations: Encourage students to draw from ’direct observation’ as much as
possible; this will help to develop their skills and confidence in many other areas. Encourage
students to visit art galleries and exhibitions to enhance their understanding of the work of
artists, craftspeople and designers. Visits to universities and organizing relevant work experience
is recommended to those considering art as a possible career path.

do an oral exam in April or early May (35% of grade) on their own chosen topic. In the
summer examination period they then do a further component: Research, understanding &
written response in German, which has 3 sections: A short translation, a German-language
essay and a research-based essay (65% of grade).
Homework: In addition to regular written homework, students are expected to note and
learn vocabulary independently on a regular basis. They are expected to learn grammar

External Exams: Final examination will in the exam period of May/June, and will
comprise of two exams. Unit 1: Understanding Global Development (which is 1 hour
45 mins) and Unit 2: Global Development Challenges (also 1 hour 45 mins)
Homework: Pupils will be required to undertake a lot of research in their own
time, including keeping up to date with current affairs. This will be in addition to
regular assignments, which will improve knowledge and understanding.
Assessment Policy: Assessment will be varied throughout the year to ascertain
that pupils have the required knowledge and understanding of each topic. There will
also be unit specific exam style questions, and terminology testing throughout the
year.

Recommendations. Each topic covers an enormous amount of information, where
many aspects can be viewed very differently from the perspectives of different
countries. Pupils must read around the topics in their own time, choosing to link

no one textbook, pupils must be pro-active in their research and investigations.
We usually say there is always a ‘Plan B’…. But there is no ‘Planet B’

Homework: Homework will be set twice a week and will normally involve 1 hours work. It
may involve a range of different activities. A discipline procedure is in place if a student
continually fails to produce homework on time.
Assessment: In Year 13 there are tests and exam practices after each unit. There are also
formal assessments at the end of the first and second terms covering the relevant topics.
Most of the formal tests will take the form of past papers. In addition to these tests, students
will be monitored closely throughout the year and each term students will have a one to one
session with the class teacher to review progress. There will also be a mock exam either at
the end of term one or at the beginning of the second term.
Exams: Students must complete one 4,000 word essay made up of two parts for
coursework. This must be handed in before the Easter holidays, and is worth 40% of the A2
mark. During the summer exam period, students will sit one exam that is two hours long.
This exam will require the students to write two long answers: one source-based, one
knowledge-based. This exam is worth 60 % of the A2 mark.

Assessment Policy: 4 lessons physiology – short term preparation, 4 lessons psychology –
long term preparation, 4 lessons coursework per 2 week cycle.
Practical: The tasks undertaken in the AS Unit 2: The Critical Sports Performer lay the
foundation for students to specialise in one practical performance role and progress this
performance, and undertake three further tasks. Students will construct a development
plan to further progress their performance as player/participants, leaders or officials. They
will also research one of these roles in an international context, taking in grassroots
participation, elite performance and other factors. Students will then continue to refine their
performances in one chosen role.
Lastly, they will plan their life in physical activity, from the Advanced Subsidiary course to
the potential opportunities and performance structure open to them, thereby outlining a
‘time line’, through school, college, university, club, veterans and future roles. This unit is
internally assessed and externally moderated. Students must complete all four tasks which
accounts for 50% of the AS and 25% of the total A-level.
Theory: The assessment of this unit is through a 2 hour examination paper which is set and
marked by Edexcel. The paper will be a question and answer booklet, consisting of short
answer and extended writing type questions, all of which are compulsory. Students will
develop a knowledge and understanding of the short and long-term physiological and
psychological preparations made by elite athletes. They will consider the short- and longterm technical preparations required, eg selection of appropriate kit and equipment, the use
of training camps, different types of ergonomic aids. The theory section will account for
50% of the AS and 25% of the total A-level.
Recommendations: It is advised that students read around and research the subject area
by reading newspapers, books and the internet.

Exámenes Internos: Existen 3 trimestres. Habrá controles al finalizar cada bloque temático o
tema y 3 exámenes trimestrales. El trabajo y la actitud del alumno en clase también serán
evaluados.
Exámenes Externos: Examen de selectividad en mayo o junio. Consta de 2 partes: una
práctica (70%) y una teórica (30%).
Deberes: Los alumnos tendrán ejercicios de deberes:
Diariamente: prácticas de los contenidos explicados en clase
Semanalmente: láminas donde se valorará la presentación, precisión, corrección y puntualidad
de la entrega.
Trimestralmente: fólder con apuntes y contenidos teóricos.
Sistema de Evaluación: Para aprobar, habrá que sacar como mínimo un cinco de media en

Observaciones: El curso será eminentemente práctico; ejercicios en clase con un claro
objetivo: preparación de niveles básicos requeridos en el Selectivo.

Trabajo durante el Curso: El objeto principal es aprender a trabajar la geografía como una
ciencia útil que permite comprender las realidades y los problemas cotidianos, valorando sus
aspectos positivos y negativos y permitiendo desarrollar la empatía de los alumnos y su
capacidad crítica.
Se les recomendará, a lo largo del curso, a seguir la actualidad a través de los medios de
comunicación, visualizar reportajes, películas, programas de TV y hacer visitas relacionadas
con temas geográficos.
Exámenes Externos: Examen de PAU en junio. Para presentarse a la prueba externa, el
alumno deberá aprobar internamente la asignatura.
Deberes: Todas las semanas, se pedirán ejercicios relacionados con los temas que se estén
trabajando. Seguirán el modelo de ejercicio tipo de la prueba de Selectividad. En los
periodos de vacaciones se dará un dossier de trabajo al alumno para que revise los
contenidos trabajados en clase de forma más amplia y profunda.
Sistema de Evaluación: En octubre, se realizará un examen recopilatorio de todos los
contenidos dados en Year 12.
A lo largo del curso realizarán tests (vocabulario), controles (de cada unidad) y exámenes de
