- You will find that the library here is much bigger then you are used to. When people think of a library the first thing that comes into their minds are books but Middlesex library has much more than just books: (Allow images to appear, then talk through what we have.)(Pic 1) books(Pic 2) electronic books, (Pic 3) journals and e-journals(Pic 4) databases(Pic 5) e- newspapers(Pic 6) place to study(Pic 7) Wireless access(Pic 8) laptops that you can borrow. - Unihub is the university student portalBasic library and IT information is on the library and IT home page via Your study tab (next slide)BUT for library e-resources that we pay for Information about you and your course Access to coursework Messages to you from the University and your tutorsYou must log in! - There are self service machines you can use it issue, return and renew your books and to pay any library charges.In each printer pod there is a PC which you can use to top up your printing account online. Debit and credit cards can be used. Or you can use this blue machine to pay with cash.Please use the Kiosk PCs for computer and room bookings.

- Expert advice zone 1st floor staffed over lunchtimes, with appointments and drop ins at other times Find and access e-resources Subject specific enquiries or refer you to the right person Academic IT needs, software, wireless set up etc 1-1 support by drop in if staff free or by appointment Group Training Sessions often as part of your course
- Web Helpdesk (phone and email)for all general University enquiries including:Password problemsLibrary and IT enquiriesPhone help = 08:00-21:00 Monday to Friday, 09:00-21:00 Saturday and Sunday.Ask a Librarian: contact your Librarian if you have an enquiry regarding your subject, research, selecting and using resources etc. We aim to answer enquiries within 24 hours.Library Subject Guides:guide for each subject – find yoursMiddlesex Uni App: browse the library catalogue and check library computer availability on each campus, manage your library account as well as search for useful contacts and view campus locations on Google maps. Plus UniFacebook and Twitter for the latest news.
- We also work closely with our colleagues in the LDU who offer these services:Help and advice available for everyone:students who are doing well and students who want to do better, home and international students. Located in the Williams Building (WG47) (blue building opposite College Building outside of Sheppard Library)LDU Learning Lounge: Open for students Mon-Fri 10.00-17.00. This is a drop-in academic enquiry point.
- Informal study: Space for students to work individually, but you can chat.Group study: Space and facilities that enable student to work together easily around a single computer. There are a small number of these areas with computers provided or you can use other informal study spaces with a laptop.Silent study: usually in rooms with doors, plus the Law Wing. Please respect this and don’t use it for group work.You can book S202 and S223 for yourselves using the booking facility on one of the kiosk PCs.Phones: Please put your mobile on silent / vibrate only and respect those around you.Hot and cold drinks and cold food only can be consumed in the library.
- Your Middlesex ID Card gives you:Proof of ID for the safety of everyone on campusAccess to the Library and other Campus buildings such as lecture theatres, classrooms, labs etcAllows you to borrow books and other materials from the library. You can borrow 12 books (Undergraduate) and 14 books (Postgraduate)
- IT user ID and password also used for printing and photocopying.(Black&White may change to BlackandWhitetbc)
