1. So you’ve made it!!
• Immediately upon your arrival to UCONN, you will need to check-
in with us at ISSS. Please make sure to bring the following
documents to check-in:
– Copy of your passport (with picture, biographic info and expiration
date)
– Copy of your VISA page
– Copy of entry stamp in your passport
– Copy of your I-94 card (front and back) or print-out of your automated
I-94 admission record*
– Copy of I-20 or DS-2019 with an entry stamp (if applicable)
– J-1 ONLY: Medical Insurance Information Form
• If you are with your dependents, items listed above for your
dependents are also required.
NOTE: Photocopies need to be legible so please check this before
submitting them to our front office.
2. Where is ISSS and when can I check in?
• ISSS is located at McMahon Hall, Main Floor, Suite #183
and we are open:
– Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
– Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Check-In Schedule for Newly Arrived F-1 & J-1
Students:
– You may check-in at the International Center beginning
August 4, 2014
– All check-ins must be completed by August 25, 2014
• Check-In Schedule for Newly Arrived J-1 Scholars:
– You MUST check-in at the International Center within 3
days of your arrival to the U.S.
3. Orientation
• UConn international students with F-1 or J-1 visas are
required to attend an orientation session provided by
the ISSS to learn important information about your visa
type and life at UConn as an international student.
Keep in mind that your academic program might also
provide a separate orientation that you must also plan
to attend – your program will notify you of this
separately.
