2. Hi,
I’m Stefan Fountain and
I have a new phone
Hi,
I’m Stefan Fountain, from Soocial, and I just got a new phone. It’s a Nokia N80, really cool, it
even has Wifi.
3. New
My Mom
I’m from Holland, I promised to call my mom and let her know everything is ok.
So just give me a second...
....oh hold on... I don’t have her number in here, yet.
4. New
.vcf
Thankfully I emailed this to myself yesterday, since we have this cool standard VCF it should
be pretty easy to get into my phone. Right?
12. The future of
Contact management
This short scenario is just a typical example of one of the many ways contact management
these days goes wrong. Today it sucks...
What is more interesting is the future of contact management. We’ve got a solution that
provides us with a new kind of contact management.
13. The main problem is that we use many di!erent devices and they all have their own address
books, all have their own contact pools. It’s a real pain to use, sync and find contacts.
14. Many devices

24. New
Your Mom
So enough about my mom, let’s talk about your mom.
25. New
Your Mom
Enter information 4 times?
For example your mom gets a new number, are you going to enter it more than once?
Probably not.
You’ll call your minion friends to text you the number, costs them money but that’s ok for
you, right?
26. Clunky interfaces
Another aspect is that even though mobiles *can* be beautiful they can also be very clunky.
They’ve got small screens, the address book software is shocking in usability (IMHO), the
input methods are limited, only 10 buttons for 29 letter, is T9 on or not, what language is it
in? In my opinion entering information on phones suck.
27. So... what have we done to solve these problems?
There are these many devices that have their own contacts pools. What we’ve done is created
one. We’ve thrown all contacts on one heap and then we distribute them to the devices where
you need them. So your going to have your contacts on all your devices when you need them.
28. This is Soocial. We had to find a cool name, that had 2 o’s in it. Because every successfull
Web company name has 2 o’s in it. So it’s not Suwsjal, it sow-sjal. In our opinion contact
management these days sucks it’s gimp, so our slogan for now is ‘Ungimp your contacts’.
We’re open to user feedback and suggestions to change the payo!, though. ;-)

Another cool feature is our buddy system. Meet Jane. Jane has a number of friends. Let’s say
Jane gets a new number, she adds it to her Soocial, and immediately all her friends have her

49. Approach
Simple as this
Our philosophy is to make it simple.
We want it to be automatic behind-the scenes as simple as kicking a football; you don’t want
to have to think about the force and angle to kick it, you just want to score. You don’t have to
think about synchronizing, you just call your mom, your brother or whoever.
50. Approach
User participation
We want to participate with you. We have strong opinions about how Soocial should work, but
we’re also keen to hear from you what you think. Signup on Soocial.com and get invited for
our private alpha.
51. Alpha release
On invitation
In the next few weeks
We’ll be releasing our private alpha in the next few weeks. It will be invitation only, so signup
for our Alpha release on Soocial.com/signup.
52. We need you...
Developers, developers, developers
One last thing. We’ve got some developer slot’s open so if you think you can be a benefit to
our team, drop a line and maybe you can be our next guru ‘du jour’.
53. Demo
This slide really only works live. But go ahead and enjoy it anyway. Since you’ve come this far,
I reckon you deserve bonus.
