Brescia is one of the largest and most
populated territory in Lombardy which
is the richest region in Italy.
There are many different economic
attivities based on agriculture,
industries, services and constructions.
Most of workers are employed in
services and industrial sectors.
The rate of foreigners is higher than
the Italian average thanks to the job
opportunities offered until a few years
ago.
Unemployed rate is now about 8,4%.

area near the lakes (Franciacorta.
Valtenesi ) and various DOC wines such

The viticulture is considered the most important

The wines of our land are world
famous for their quality and there are
different types: red, white, rosé and
sparkling.

The building industry is very important in Brescia: there are
thousands of small building companies and their qualified and
experienced workers are appreciated both in Italy and abroad.
However during the last years many companies have gone
bankrupt due to the crysis.

whole territory (6.000 only in the town of Brescia)

THE TUBETHE TUBE
It is a light rail line over 13 kilometers long that connects the districts north of
the city of Brescia to those of the south- east, passing through the historic
center and using a fully automatic system .
Today there are 16 trains that can carry up to 8500 passengers per hour in
each direction . Seventeen stations total
Brescia, with 194 thousand residents , it is the smallest city in Europe to have
its subway , whose history is long and debated. The work began only in 2003.

Caffaro is a chemical factory.
In 1930s it started to produce PCB (polychlorinated biphenils) toxic chemicals.
Caffaro didn't respect the environment and it seriously contaminated fields and
water.
The scandal started a serious set of studies and authorities are still discussing
about measures to be taken to reclaim.

The Museum of Saint Julia is the
principal museum of Brescia.
It is situated inside the monastery
of Saint Julia.
The underlying zone to the
Museum is rich of archaeological
finds of various epochs, for the
most part belonging to the Roman
epoch and excellently preserved,
particularly the Domuses of the
Ortaglia..
THE CASTLETHE CASTLE
The Castle of Brescia is a fortitude of medieval epoch castled on the hill Cidneo,
behind the historical center of the city of Brescia.
Whoever reaches Brescia, from any direction, can see since it marks the panoramic
profile of the city.
The complex of fortifications is one of the greatest of Italy, and it covers completely the
hill Cidneo.

In the same square, in the
North there is the palace of
Broletto, the medieval seat of
the lords, now houses the
municipal offices.
The new Cathedral (Cathedral of Santa Maria
Assunta), is the main church of Brescia and
was built between 1604 and 1825, the area
where there was the early Christian basilica of
St. Peter de Dom V-VI century. Next to the
cathedral is the Duomo Old or New Round
(from its circular shape) of XI century.

dating back to the thirteenth
century, where the Conventual.

Piazza Loggia is one of the main square in Brescia.
Its shape is rettangular.
It is bounded by a series of buildings from the Venetian Age , and dominated
by Palace of the Loggia, nowadays the Town Hall.
S. FaustinoS. Faustino
St.Faustino is the patron of
Brescia.
Its fair is every year on February
15 and entertains 602 stands with
every kind of merchandise.

The station built according to the project of Benedict Foix, on April 24 has been
inaugurated 1854. The architecture of the building is in neoclassic style,
influenced by elements neoromanici. It detaches the monumental aspect, the
red coloration of the bricks and the medieval blackbirds.

olive oil and for the longevity of

Terme di Sirmione S.p.A. is a multiple reality which originates from a precious natural
element: the sulphurous , salsobromoiodic water.
It has two spas, Terme Virgilio and Catullo Spa, three hotels spa and Aquaria Thermal

The water of Terme di Sirmione is
rich in sulphur, sodium chloride,
iodine, bromine and trace
elements, magnesium, selenium
and zinc.
The sulphurous water, stimulates
the parasympathetic nervous
system and generates a capillary
vasodilation with a reduction in
blood pressure.
Iseo lakeIseo lake
Lake Iseo is wedged between the
provinces of Brescia and Bergamo.
It has its tourist season from May to
September, during which there are
many events: sailing regattas,
concerts and dances.
It is popular all year round.
Different sports are practised
there: swimming, windsurfing,
fishing, scuba diving and sailing,
the latter favored by regular
winds.

Monte Isola is the largest natural lake island in Italy as well as the
highest lake island in Europe: from Montisola you can see the isle of
Loreto to the north and to the south the small isle of St. Paul.
The island has a typical Mediterranean vegetation, gorse in full
bloom in spring and heather in autumn.

The rock carvings of Valcamonica ( UNESCO site since
1979) constitute one of the largest collections of prehistoric
petroglyphs in the world.
UNESCO has recognized more than 140,000 figures, but
new findings have gradually increased the total number of
recordings cataloged, perhaps up to three hundred
thousand .
The rock art in Vallecamonica it is marked on the rocks about
2000 in more than 180 locations, including 24 in common .
The incisions were made over a period of time of eight
thousand years, until the Iron Age ( first millennium BC )
BagolinoBagolino
Bagolino is a mountain village, center of winter and summer resort also
known for its carnival. It has kept largely intact the ancient medieval
urban structure : old stone houses , ornate by wrought iron and
connected to each other by underground passages.
The area produces one of the most characteristic alpine cheese , the
Bagòss , mature cheese with distinctive and intense flavor.
The Bagòss is a specialty unique and inimitable. It is a cheese whose
typical production area is the town of Bagolino, in the province of
Brescia.
CHEESE and SALAMI
The province of Brescia has been for a very long time the heart
of the cattle trade, and today, the meats that are produced are
of the highest quality.
The production of salami refers to a tradition that is now lost,
based on a popular wisdom passed on from father to son and
from generation to generation .
TYPICAL PRODUCTSTYPICAL PRODUCTS
The “Cotechino” is made with pork, traditionally made​​ ​​
by the preparation of other meats, using a lot of fat in
addition to finely chopped rind that gives the sausage
a characteristic gelatinous consistency.

There are many different economic attivities based on agriculture, industries, services and constructions. Most of workers are employed in services and industrial sectors. The rate of foreigners is higher than the Italian average thanks to the job opportunities offered until a few years ago. Unemployed rate is now about 8,4%.

THE TUBETHE TUBE It is a light rail line over 13 kilometers long that connects the districts north of the city of Brescia to those of the south- east, passing through the historic center and using a fully automatic system . Today there are 16 trains that can carry up to 8500 passengers per hour in each direction . Seventeen stations total Brescia, with 194 thousand residents , it is the smallest city in Europe to have its subway , whose history is long and debated. The work began only in 2003.

It has two spas, Terme Virgilio and Catullo Spa, three hotels spa and Aquaria Thermal Wellness Centre The water of Terme di Sirmione is rich in sulphur, sodium chloride, iodine, bromine and trace elements, magnesium, selenium and zinc. The sulphurous water, stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and generates a capillary vasodilation with a reduction in blood pressure.

It has its tourist season from May to September, during which there are many events: sailing regattas, concerts and dances. It is popular all year round. The rock art in Vallecamonica it is marked on the rocks about 2000 in more than 180 locations, including 24 in common . The incisions were made over a period of time of eight thousand years, until the Iron Age ( first millennium BC )

It has kept largely intact the ancient medieval urban structure : old stone houses , ornate by wrought iron and connected to each other by underground passages.
