4. What about Testing?
 SAT and ACT are national college admissions exams.
Some scholarships also require a certain SAT or ACT
score.
 SAT and ACT are given throughout the school year.
Students must go online to register. Deadlines apply. Go
to each site to see when tests are offered

 ASVAB ~ sign up at LBHS for Career Aptitude
 PERT ~ computer given in April to most Juniors. Do your
best!

8. Planning for after high school
 Do your research (flvc.org)
 Plan on a senior year that will challenge your academic
abilities
 Apply to your top choice colleges early (by October 31,
2013) – your transcripts can be ordered in blg 1 for a
small fee
 Retake SAT and ACT early in the fall

9. Senior Year: timeline
 Counselors meet with seniors early Q1 to review high
school credits and graduation requirements
 Follow up meeting with counselor to discuss your
individual plans: work, college or military
 Apply by October 31, 2013 to your top university
choices
 Plan to retake SAT or ACT if needed
 Get familiar with scholarship searches and the
scholarship room at LBHS
 Understand the financial aid process

12. NCAA IS FOR STUDENT ATHLETES

About the NCAA

Founded more than one hundred years ago as a way to protect
student-athletes, the NCAA continues to implement that principle with
increased emphasis on both athletics and academic excellence.

The NCAA is made up of three membership classifications that are
known as Divisions I, II and III. Each division creates its own rules
governing personnel, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, benefits,
financial aid, and playing and practice seasons – consistent with the
overall governing principles of the Association. Every program must
affiliate its core program with one of the three divisions.

 *** Remember – you must have 19 total credits to
be promoted to Senior.

15. REGISTRATION FOR 2013-2014
Pay close attention during the Registration Presentation
on the tv.
 Beginning February 11- February 15th
 Counselors available in the court yard during lunches
Mon-Thurs during that week
 Be sure to get advise from teachers, too
 Parents must sign registration card – it’s their last time.

 Dual Enrollment questions will be answered during
lunches

16. Options to make up missing credit
 Virtual school – flvs.net (Seminole County virtual is
for part time students)
 Credit Recovery – taken during the regular school
day
 Summer school – April summer school forms will be
available
 Grade forgiveness will occur when students repeat
courses successfully. Courses cannot be repeated if
students earn a C or higher
