What do short films have to do with weather?
For starters, nothing is more visual than the spectacle of life
on planet earth.
Then, there’s the fact that weather and the seasons all
around us impact just about everything we eat, wear, ride,
buy and plan – and how we live, work and play.
From green tech to small business, holiday fests to society’s
issues – weather is a common force that connects people
everywhere.

Never before has visual storytelling
been so accessible to so many people.
Thanks to pro-grade digital cams &
editing options on smartphones &
devices – vast high-speed wireless
networks
– people, places and stories once out of
sight are now within reach.
User generated video is social to the
core and weather.com is combining
two new strands of DNA into digital
VIDEO and our COMMUNITY…… this
competition is born out of the the
intersection of both

8. How to enter & watch videos?
Video can be up to 5 minutes in length and will be upload video via
the web or mobile with an updated upload tool that will be easy to
use.
All approved video entries will be showcased in a gallery page on
web, mobile and distributed via social media. There will be a Special
call out area for ‘Finalist’.
9. Voting & Judging:
Entries will be judged by a combination of People’s Choice and a
professional panel. There will be 5 Finalist and 3 Winners.
Voting:
How will the winners be selected? “People’s Choice” voting will help to
drive audience to our gallery section,
a special tool will make it easy to
cast a vote.
We will drive to our voting section
via marketing across all platforms
and at SXSW tradeshow attendees
will be able to vote.
Judging:
A professional panel of judges select 9
10. Red Carpet
How will we showcase the winners?
Recognizing winners in an exciting and public way will
help lend credibility to the competition.
Award Show:
A ‘live’ award show featuring the finalists and the
announcement of the winners can be produced for
The Weather Channel and be Live Streamed on web
and mobile. The show would then live as video-on-
demand clip on digital.
Finalist would be flown to the Red Carpet event to be
a part of the show, giving them their ‘15 minutes of
Fame”. 10
