Managing serials in libraries presents unique challenges due to their periodic and ongoing nature. This document outlines Calvin College's implementation of the Evergreen integrated library system to manage serials metadata, physical items, and acquisitions processes. Key aspects of the model include using MARC Format for Holdings Data records to manage metadata, an issuance table to track physical items, and shelving units to group items by their call number. The system automates workflows like updating holdings records when new issues are received while allowing for manual exceptions.
