1. Using impersonal expressions (i.e. it is ….. to me )

happy etc**
Me fastidia/n It annoys me
Me preocupa/n It worries me
Me alegra/n It makes me happy
Me fascina/n It fascinates me
Me parece/n It seems to me
Me aburre/n It bores me
Mi preferencia sería My preference would be..
Me molesta/n It annoys me
2. Lo + adjectives
Lo is a funny word in Spanish because it means ‘it’ or ‘of
it/about it’. We have used it a lot this year.
Some more examples: Use your dictionary to work out
the unknown adjectives (there shouldn’t be very many!!)
Lo bueno de
Lo malo de
Lo agradable de
Lo desagradable de
Lo positivo de
Lo negativo de
Lo sencillo de
Lo fácil de
Lo difícil de
3. The most difficult/ the least interesting
This is another way of using ‘lo’
1) Lo más difícil del español es.. (la gramática
porque..)
The most difficult (thing ) about Spanish is..
2) Lo menos interesante de la química es..(la gran
cantidad de pruebas porque son…)
The least interesting thing about chemistry is ..
**Can you use these 2 examples to write 2 more of
your own in your Toolkit??**
4. Llevo +
time+gerund
Señora Stamper
Llevo means I carry or I bring, but when you add a period of time and a
gerund (ing word) it means how long you have been doing something
e.g. Llevo 3 años estudiando la geografía
I have been studying Geography for 3 years
Llevo 4 años estudiando el español
I have been studying Spanish for 4 years
*could you use this pattern and predict and create some of your own
phrases with llevo + time+ gerund
It doesn’t always have to be studying !!
