Stray dogs in MOscow By Kelsey Amos, Andrey Marsavin, Anna Podchufarova
STRAY DOGS IN MOSCOW The problem of stray dogs has been common all over the world. It came out that there are about 36 000 stray dogs in the city and our photographs show the view of them and it is horrible: sick dogs, who suffer different diseases, with fractured legs and bones. Unfortunately there are only a few shelters for stray dogs in Moscow and the animals have to live outside in any season in bad conditions. However, some of them manage to find food in the dumps. Sometimes kind people give food to stray dogs and the dogs come to this place every day. The worst thing is when cruel people even kill stray animals. These facts make us firious and we come up with this project to attract the peoples attention to save these poor creatures.
The dogs in the subway In many articles, it says that the stray dogs in Moscow are the smartest dogs because they know how to ride the metro. In the morning, they choose a train which is not crowded and ride on it to their destination. In the evening, they come back on the same train back to the place where they spend their night. Some people, who ride the metro, get very annoyed by them but some don’t. They even made a website called www.metrodogs.ru. It has pictures and videos of stray dogs on the metro.
How they find food In a small Moscow kiosk, a woman buys a hot dog for herself and starts eating It with no rush. Then she notices that a small stray dog has been following her. The dog starts barking and the woman gets very scared so she drops her tasty hot dog on the ground and the stray dog gets it. It turns out that the young woman loses her snack and the dog gets it. Most of the stray dogs in Moscow hunt their food in this way.
THE SHELTERS The Moscow government always wanted to put more dogs into shelters so they can sterilize them. Once they have been sterilized, they have to stay in the shelter. Live in the shelters for a dog is horrible. They suffer with dieses and die. Not much of the people adopt them and they have to live in the shelters for the rest of their live.
