they hope to add tech staff in the first half of 2012.
2.Health Care Professionals- Partly due to the aging of the U.S.
population, health care has been hot for a while now, and the
trend shows no sign of slowing.
3.Health Care Management and Support Staff – Lots of new
openings in General Management, Finance, Marketing, Human
Resources and more.
4.Engineers - A whopping 88% of employers in a new poll by the
Society for Human Resource Management stated their
difficulties with finding enough engineers to hire.
5.Industrial Skills - As more companies go global, demand for
expertise in logistics -- the art and science of moving stuff
efficiently from one place to another -- will continue to heat up.

6. Life Sciences and Biotech– Research states that there will be a
40% jump in job openings for research scientists between now
and 2018 (average salary: $76,700).
7. Salespeople- Almost three-quarters (72%) of employers in a large
survey said they can't get enough salespeople.
8. Accounting and Finance– Demand (particularly for forensic
accountants and compliance specialists) has been climbing
steadily for the past several years.
9. Discount Retailers - The big national discount store companies
have flourished during this recession, and most of them are
hiring managers as well as in-store personnel."
10.Private equity firms- Recruiters report that private equity
firms are actively seeking management talent for their portfolio
companies "across all industries and all functional areas.”

1. Doing more with less– Managers hesitant to hire more, but will increase
duties of existing employees.
2. Held back by housing - Unemployed job seekers struggling to pay their
mortgage still have fewer options for their job search.
3. Choose your education carefully - There are no jobs, so why not get
more training and make yourself a better candidate when there are jobs?
4. Age diversity - People are delaying retirement because of the
recession. More older workers are now searching for new careers
5. The Finance Industry - Firms will still be significantly cutting back.
Bank of America, for one, is in the midst of a large job cut, and some
analysts believe that other banks might not be too far behind.
6. A Second “World” Recession? - The World Bank has issued a financial
alert for a the real potential for a 2012 – 2013 4% GDP economic downturn
on a global scale due to the European Debt Crisis

7. More short term jobs- Americans have to look at jobs
differently, with many accepting temporary and part-time positions
rather than holding out for full-time permanent work.
8. The IT consolidation trend- The major players in the field
have lots of incentives to keep adding to their range of offerings.
One way they're doing that is by snapping up smaller firms.
9. The importance of internships- Because of the shortage of
jobs, landing an internship is going to be more important than
ever.
10. Negotiate a package, not a salary- You should value the entire
package and quantify everything. How you do that is up to you.
Your compensation number should factor in what is essential to you
and what is non-essential.
