including:
Social media profiles
Images/ photos of you
Any information or
content posted by you
on blogs and sites

Talk about ground rules and responsibilities with
respect to internet safety
Children under 13 should NOT have a social media
account
Set usage limits
Computer and technology usage should be
visible, especially with younger children
Create a “check in” policy (i.e., Leave all phones turned
off in the kitchen before bed time)
7. Tips on Staying Safe – What to talk
about with your children
Set up blocks and privacy settings – friends only, no
private information published, be careful who you
befriend
Beware of the images and information you post of
yourself. “Would you want this out there 10 years from
now?”
Do not meet with strangers (i.e., “online friends”)
Do not share passwords!
Do not engage with cyberbullies. Take screenshots and
report to an adult
Do not condone cyberbullying
