1. Media Relations Policy

Goal: NAS Pensacola finds it necessary to inform its internal, external affiliates
and local community by having a pro-active communications policy.
Applicability: Department-wide
Policy: The Public Affairs Office (PAO) is responsible for all media relations
directly and indirectly involved with NAS Pensacola. All government and department of
defense (DOD) contractor employees should notify the public affairs office about any and all
media inquiries. We understand inquiries from news outlets maintain high priority and require
quick and accurate response. Due to the media often working on tight deadlines, departments
must respond as soon as possible when the public affairs office requests information from
individual departments.
Definitions: PAO-Public Affairs office
NAS- Naval Air Station
Procedures:
The Public Affairs Officer, Media Relations Director,Commanding Officer Captain Christopher
W. Plummer and Executive Officer Commander Greg A. Thomas is the only personnel
authorized to speak on behalf of NAS Pensacola unless previous permission has been granted
beforehand.
All affiliates with NAS Pensacola should notify the public affairs office about all and any media
inquiries.
All news media representatives reporting any type of event must be escorted by a member of
the bases Public Affairs Office.
Backgrounders, position papers, and organizational history are assessable and will be issued to
media upon request.
The Media Relations Director is in charge of sending news releases and has the authority to
delegate responsibilities to staff that is directly under him/her.

2. Please contact the Public Affairs Representative to request the N.A.S. Pensacola’s press kit
through email or mail.
Public Affairs Office should be notified in an event of any media requests (interviews,
information).
