This document provides several techniques and activities for teachers to help children identify and express their feelings in the classroom: 1) Calming down corner allows children to choose a face or item to represent their mood when needing to express themselves. 2) Colouring feelings uses colour stickers to indicate daily emotions. 3) Message cards of different colours allow private messages to convey positive or negative feelings. 4) Feeling faces and a numbering scale help children quantify their emotions throughout the day. 5) Books, worksheets, and games on topics like death, divorce, and poverty aid discussion of difficult feelings.

4. CALMING DOWN CORNER
• This is a technique used with children from 3 to 5 and it`s very
simple.
• It consists in letting the children to go to this corner when they have
something to express.
• Once there, children have two options; to choose one of the three
faces that are glued in the corner or pick the bottle they need.

5. COLOURED FEELINGS
• This activity is designed to do as a ritual exercise every day
• In infant school, normally, all children who come to class have to
take their name card and move it to a special place.
• What children have to do is: select a colour when they arrive to
school and put the sticker they selected near to their card.

6. MESSAGE CARDS
• This practice is designed to be used from third of primary on

cards. Some will be red and the others any colour we prefer.
• Red cards will be used to express negative feelings or things that

7. FEELING FACES
• This is an exercise to work feeling expressions in Primary school.
• For that, we are going to use expression faces and it is necessary for
each child to have the three faces in his/her desk.
• They will have to value their feeling three times per day (during the
morning, after the break and after lunch).

8. NUMBERING FEELINGS
• This is a method created by Steve Reifmand
