An introduction to the energies via poetry.EITHER:Play recording by clicking on the speaker icon. Can you feel the different vibrations as the different people spoke? Funny story about Neil reading the poem when we did the recording; His partner, Dorsey and Bijoy were in the room. It was going ok, but not great…until: we realized we had the 3 energies represented! Neil (maven), Dorsey (Relater), Bijoy (Evangelist). Good opportunity to discuss gender implications/stereotypes/expectations of energies. MRE separates Have one of the participants read the poem and then have the group analyze. You can still tell the story of the recording.
Put your “art analysis” hat on and lets analyze the paintings by artist Tina Schweiger of the 3 energies. What do you see with the colors, position of person, and design and shapes?Cool blue = thought; Go “toward the light” illumination, idea, insight. Sometimes students confuse the maven icon with the loops. The icon is just the head, upraised arms and stem. They might not be able to see the tiny bricks that surround the maven – this indicates the precision of thought of mavens. It’s also a maven “tower” which indicates both the light side of what they do to seek ideas AND the darkside of maven isolation and becoming disconnected from others/the world.
What other famous mavens can you think of?
This is the only picture that is landscape orientation. Notice the arms encircling and hugging – compare with the mavenShapes: organic, entwining circles – the complexity and overlap of human emotionsColors: earth-based, organicNotice the loop…hint that this will reveal a larger pattern in a bit!
What other famous relaters can you think of? Anyone seen Da Vinci Code? Hanks’ character miscast as a John Langdon, who is a Maven! Paul McCartney: silly love songs! He was the sappy one to Lennon’s maven “Imagine.” Bill Clinton: I FEEL your pain.Jimmy StewartHoward SchultzSarah McLachlanAnderson CooperJulie AndrewsMeg RyanAmma
Evangelist:Colors: fiery red/orange of passion and action. Shapes: big boulders that must be MOVED!Contrast with Maven and Relater
What other famous evangelists can you think of?Tony RobbinsSchwarzeneggerSamuel L JacksonRichard BransonAnita RoddickMick JaggerRonald Reagan
Look at the dynamic relationship. Are you getting a visual image in your head, of each energy’s purpose and how they interact together? E pulls the triangle forward, M overseas, R takes care of everyone from behind. What do the chords of the triangle symbolize? the fragile, yet vital ties between the energies that must be nurtured, lest they create struggle, disharmony, miscommunication, etc.
MRE in Oz – and many other stories as you saw from the MRE Siminar.
Think back to the poem- like the vibration you got when hearing the different energies speak, image our personality radiating out similarly.
Here is a map to illustrate how our personality comes through and the MRE model facilitates components of our daily life – what drives us, a higher purpose for us, the purpose of communication and relationships, and what they desire from knowledge.
Ask them to reflect on questions 1 & 2? Ask a couple to share with the group.
Linda McCallister found 3 core communication styles. (Her model has 6 categories which are combos, but we’ll stay with the 3 for this exercise. If they want to investigate further, get her book!)She found the 3 types have a totally different response about the purpose of communication.
These are all potential conflict sources.US: E/M…Relaters have a hard time! Why do people want to be all three?(To find wholeness, but that’s not the way…more later as you continue on your MRE journey) We are not necessarily our idealized self – this is hard to accept, so we might not. The value system of an entity, adopts its energy and therefore, its members/components are groomed, encouraged, etc. to be THAT energy; assuming there is a right/best energy; not embracing all the energies, as necessary to the whole. This is one of the reasons there is no classic MRE test where you answer questions and are told what your energy is!
Collect the MRE Maps and sort them into M, R & E. But DO NOT tell them that you are doing this! Call out names into “Group 1,” “Group 2,” and Group 3Tell them their assignment is to “Redesign the Dog Kennel. Go” Do NOT answer any questions they have. Let them figure it out and go through their own processGive them about 10 minutesHave each group report back their designs – 1, 2, 3.Ask everyone: what was Group 1’s core energy? Then have Group 1 also relate how they came together and what they dynamic was. Repeat with 2 & 3. This exercise lets them EXPERIENCE the energy. Someone who has mis-typed themselves will also start to realize they might have to reexamine.
Return the MRE maps. Ask: what stage of the MRE Journey are you in? Give them a few minutes to reflect.
MRE scales up! But that’s for a future session.
Have a participant read the poem or play it for the group. Ask: what does it mean?
There is no standard “test” for MRE. Why? We can be confused, as you learned from earlier. And much more importantly, this is something for YOU to discover an own. MRE is a lifetime journey and it’s up to you to figure out, deepen and integrate your energies! The MREmap online tool facilitates a discussion between you and people in your life to help you determine for yourself, what your core energies are.
