fireman Jacob ingram 4/28/11 3rd hour Career technology
As you could probably tell I would like to be a fireman. What exactly does a fireman do? Firemen put out fires, obviously. But they also help out at crash scenes, Where they sometimes have to use the jaws of life to pull people out of there cars :D But there's more to being a fireman then just putting out fires, you have to learn about The different types of fires, chemical, grease, and forest fires are only some of different Types. Firemen also have to become paramedics just like the EMT drivers. What really got me interested in becoming a fireman was seeing my aunt sit behind a desk all day. I wanted to find a job that didn’t have a lot of paper work and had a lot of excitement. A police officer just wasn’t my thing, And I decided that the marines was to much excitement, then I thought about the career that gets looked over quite a bit, and that’s When I decided what I wanted to be.
Responsibilities 1) Fire suppression. 2) Rescue. 3) Fire investigation. 4) Fire prevention. 5) Emergency planning. 6) EMS 7) Fire equipment.
Being a fireman isn't easy. To be a fireman you have to be Physically and mentally fit. Physically because you have to be able to Carry injured people, and be able to with stand the heat. And mentally because you may have to deal with death sometimes. Being a fireman means you will work outdoors and indoors. Home fires and forest fires are examples. An advantage of being a fireman is the hours. Firemen generally work a couple days a week, (they live in a fire house) Then after working a few days they get a few days off.
To be a fireman You need a EMT certification, And at least 2 years In a fire academy. I plan on going to a Fire academy in Macomb, and I'm going to get my EMT certificate At OCC. I am going to take a lot of science classes to prepare me for my Firefighting career.
It isn’t terribly competitive in the firefighting job market today, in fact The job rate is increassing! I would like to start my career in the Detroit and then move down to Florida. I’m just aiming to get a job no particular business.
My lifestyle goals are to just make enough money to buy myself a nice Home and a nice car, and I would like to make enough to be able To buy my family members gifts for there B-days and such. The first thing I will buy with my paycheck is the newest video game System.
Back up career My back up career would be an ambulance driver. I would like to be this because I like to drive, and I like to go fast :D The pay differs for how long you have been working in that filed for example if you have been a fireman for one year you would earn around 37,452$. But if you have 20 years or more experience you would earn about 63,473$.
What I look forward to :D The thing I look forward to the most about becoming a fireman is probably rescuing people, and just knowing I saved someone's life. There isn’t anything that I'm not looking forward to to becoming a fireman. The experience I will gain from working as a fireman will help me through the rest of my life, and I will have to be in good physical health.
The end? The web sites I used to help me on this project were. Answers.com Google.com Wikipedia.com
