This is the project I created for my HSC Extension English students to complete in 5 weeks. This is not an assessment, this is class work.

1. These are your NEED TO KNOWS for the novel Wuthering Heights:
- when it was written and why it was written
- the contextual influences on the writer and the work (political,
philosophical, personal, historical, cultural, social)
- how the work was received originally and why
- how the work is received today and why
- the central ideas of the novel and how these reflect the Romantic ways of
thinking (valuing of the imagination, individualism and idealism; a search for meaning
through representations of the individual’s relationship with the natural world, and the
wider social and political contexts; an examination or affirmation of the power of the
imagination to inform, illuminate and transform human experience)
- the distinctive features of the text (writing style, characters, setting, plot
structure, themes)
- how this text is similar or different to the set poems of Coleridge and the
novel Northanger Abbey and the reasons for the similarities and
differences
How will you demonstrate this understanding?
By working together as a team to research and compose webpage entries for
your website http://lastromantics.weebly.com/ on each of the above dot-points.
This work will be presented to the whole world so try to be creative with your
compositions. Think about including the following on your page (created by you
or by others – just make sure you attribute all things created by others):
- podcast
- vodcast
- YouTube clips
- links to websites
- comics
- images
- written text
