4. National Council of Education And
Training
NTSE is a scheme to identify talented students. It’s the oldest & most prestigious scholarship
exam in India.
Being conducted by NCERT (National Council of Education Research and Training) which
was started in 1963.
Advantage: Through NTSE, talented students are honoured and helped by providing financial
assistance in the form of monthly scholarship.

5. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Earlier This programme took up the shape of a scheme called National Science Talent
Search Scheme (NSTSS) in the year 1963.
It was renamed as National Talent Search Scheme (NTSS) in 1976
the scheme was made open to the students of Classes X, XI and XII
A major change in the scheme came in 2006, The following modifications have been
made in the scheme.
* The scheme has been brought down from Class X to Class VIII.
* The National Talent Search examination will be held at the end of Class VIII from
the year 2007 onwards.
* The Class VIII MAT and SAT will consist of 90 questions each.
* SAT will have 35 questions for Social Science, 35 for Science and 20 for
Mathematics.
* Quota for a state will be computed proportionally on the basis of student enrolment
in Classes VII and VIII. 5
6. Details Regarding NTSE
Eligibility : Student Studying in class- VIII
Syllabus : NCERT
Medium : English & Hindi both.
Scholarship: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships are awarded
throughout the nation. Awardees receive a sum of Rs. 500/- per month.
Assistance up to Ph. D. level – for courses in Social Sc., Basic Sc. & Commerce
Assistance up to Post Graduation – for courses in Engg., Management & Law

7. Examination levels:-
Stage-1 is held at state / UT level
The state level examination has two parts for nominating the required
number of candidates for the second level test to be conducted by the
NCERT.
Part-I: Mental Ability Test (MAT), - Total 90 questions
Part-II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) - Total 90 questions
(S.St – 35, Science -35 & Maths 20)
Stage-2 is held at National level
Candidates acquiring more than the required percentage in the state level examination are
eligible to appear for the national level examination.
Part-I: Mental Ability Test (MAT), - Total 100 questions.
Part-II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – Total 100 questions
(Maths 20, Science 40 & S.St- 40)
Objective Type - Single Choice

8. Reservations : 15% for SC, 7.5 % for ST & 3% for
Physically Challenged Students
Negative marking : Normally there is No negative marking
in this exam.
Syllabus : Normally upto VIII standard NCERT. It is made
available with the Application Form.

13. NTSE 2011
For the students welfare it was necessary to bring transparency in
the system (as they were not able to judge themselves properly
due to incomplete information). So to make this task accomplish
our HOD Mr. Nilesh gupta took initiative by using RTI & after the
lots of efforts of him we got victory in bringing transparency in
NTS Examination. With the effect of RTI there were lots of
changes that have been made in NTS Examination.

We conduct Crash course & worskshops for both
NTSE stage-1 & stage-2.
NTSE stage-1 is conducted at State level. Every state
has his own criteria & syallabus for NTSE stage-1
examinaiton. Still many outsiders come here to attend
the workshop for the preparation of NTSE stage-1!!!

>After getting reply, We filed RTI-2 to know the no. of
seats in MP state and rules for filling the seats and
reservation quota, copy of rules to give weightage of
wrong question and taking the correct answer of Q.80
from Hindi version (MAT) instead of English version.

It is conducted by Geological Society of India
The IESO is intended to raise student interest in and public awareness of Earth Science, to enhance
Earth science learning of students, and to identify talented and gifted students in Earth science.
The IESO is aimed at improvement of teaching of Earth science in school.
Eligibility : Students of X and XI standards who were born between 15th September 1993
and 15th September 1996, and who have not won a prize in an earlier IESO.
