3) Do the three productions have a common look between them in your opinion? If yes, then
please state why.
4) Are there any changes you would recommend that I should make? If yes, please state what.
5) If you saw the front cover in a shop, would you pick it up and read it? If yes, please state
why.
2. I handed out the questionnaire above to
three women who represent my target
audience in order to find out how
effective my production is and what
changes could be made.
Confidently, I can say that it resulted
in them saying there are no changes I
could make as it looks more effective
being simple. The production they seemed
to like the most was the front cover;
second most was the double page spread
and finally the contents page. This was
good news for me because the front cover
would be the first page the audience will
see in the shop, encouraging them to pick
it up and read it.
When I asked them what attracted them
most in each production, the most common
answer was the image. Seeing that the
months issue revolves around the image of
the model, it is pleasant to know that
the magazine objective is fulfilled.
Other responses I received for the front
cover was the name of the magazine, for
the contents page it was the heading
‘contents’ and for the double page it was
the embedded quote and the name of the
artist. All these elements are key
features that successfully grab the
3. audience’s attention and draw them in to
the magazine.
I was also curious to find out if my
three products shared a symbiotic link,
and therefore I included it in my
questionnaire. However, I understand that
the term ‘symbiotic link’ is mainly
recognised by media studies student, so I
operationalised it and asked whether the
productions ‘share a common look or
feel.’ All three target audiences had
said yes. Two of them said the colour
scheme was continuous throughout the
three productions and there weren’t any
random uses of colour, through this I can
be sure that my productions were
sophisticated. One of the audiences said
it was the image that gave it a common
look. This is because the same model was
used and the dress code also remained
similar in style.
Two of the audiences were likely to pick
up the magazine if they saw it in a shop
because to magazine was unique, appealing
with the sell-lines used and suits thier
gender and personality. However, one of
them said they wouldn’t because it is too
sophisticated for them and aimed at an
elder audience.
