I want share 3 of the important “secrets” everyone who wants to lose a pound—or several—should
know. These secrets make weight loss is easy and natural by working with your body. And when you
work against your body, losing just a single pound can be difficult, almost impossible.
I didn’t know these secrets either… until Liz Swann Miller, Doctor of Naturopathy, revealed them to
me in an eye-opening presentation about common toxins in our modern lives that force us to gain
weight.
Liz has been astonishingly successful in helping people accomplish their health and weight loss goals.
Starting with herself.
She’s got an amazing story. She was obese when she took a college trip to Peru and started eating
ancient Inca superfoods. She was startled to find herself losing weight and feeling better, so she
dropped out of college to completely resolve her weight problem, then went back to become a
naturopath. For 15 years, Liz has helped tens of thousands of private patients lose weight and live
happier, healthier lives. Then she wrote several Amazon best-sellers to help other people all across
America do the same.
3. Now Liz has created a brilliant presentation—I’m sorry I can’t stop telling you how good it is, but
seeing it made weight-loss so simple and easy for me. So I emailed Liz and asked if she had any
information she would share with you.
Liz emailed back,
Practically everyone who tries to lose weight has been “fed” a whole lot of lies by the big food and
diet corporations. In fact, every “naturally” skinny person I know has somehow missed being force-
fed these lies.
So if you don’t know these “secrets” I’m going to reveal, don’t feel bad.
“Secret” #1: Enjoy your food.
Liz explained that we desperately need to detox from “manufactured food-like products.” They’re
actually packed with toxic chemicals and residues that force us to gain weight—as well as some gross
stuff that the body has to pack away as fat. Because this stuff isn’t real food.
“But you have to replace that stuff real food you enjoy. You’re supposed to enjoy food. Dieting and
depriving yourself just leads to binge eating and weight gain. Unfortunately, the big food and
beverage corporations put out a lot of misleading information—lies, although my lawyer’s having a
cow because I said that. Like the only way to lose weight is to deprive yourself and work out like a
maniac. And that clean eating is expensive, difficult, and bland. In fact, my clients tell me all the time
how astonished they are to discover how easy it is to lose weight on really good food.”
So what can you eat that’s both good for you and good-tasting…and detoxes your body?
What can you eat that’s easy on your budget, easy to fix…and that no one would never, ever think is
“detox diet food”?
What if you don’t want to buy special equipment or shop at pricey stores?
And what if you would like to start feeling better and looking better almost overnight?
Liz has developed a delicious method called the Red Smoothie Detox Factor that does all that. Swiftly
liberating your body from the toxins in processed food so your body can to do to fat what nature
designed it to do. More about that revelation later.
Next: “Secret” #2 is a powerful way to stop weight gain…without noticing!
I introduced you to Liz Swann Miller, the naturopath and weight loss specialist whose Red Smoothie
Detox Factor destroys food industry “wisdom” about how to lose weight.
She’s exploded the myth that deprivation and dieting are the way to lose weight.
Now she’s going to reveal one of the basic secrets all “naturally skinny” people have in common.
“Secret” #2: Eat at home.
Yes, it’s better to eat real food. But even if you eat processed food, eat at home, Liz says.
4. You will naturally eat less…without noticing or feeling deprived.
And you’ll slam the brakes on additional weight gain.
That’s because, Liz told me in a Skype chat, “No matter what you eat, whether you are alone or with
family or friends, restaurants make money by selling you food. The more you eat, the more money
they make. No matter how expensive or how cheap the restaurant.”
“Even good restaurants?” I asked.
“Even great restaurants serving terrific food made with wholesome ingredients,” she said. “But let’s
be real. When most of us go to a restaurant, it’s a fast food or chain restaurant. So they get us to
spend more by giving us more. Made with ingredients aren’t very nourishing but… are dirt-cheap.
And some of those ingredients aren’t’ just toxic, they’re actually designed to make us eat more. A lot
more.”
“So… the more they can make us eat, the more money they make.”
“Absolutely. And they know it. All of my patients eat dramatically less—without noticing—if they just
eat out less. They do notice feeling better—and that the scale stops creeping up.”
“I gotta move the scale back down. But it seems like every detox program I’ve fun into is crazy
expensive and incredibly inconvenient. And full of stuff that may be healthy but—I gotta say it,
doesn’t taste so great.”
“I hear that a lot from my patients. And you know what? I’m human, I’ve got a family—and a
budget—and we all love good food. So I created a Red Smoothie Detox Factor program where
everything has meets that ‘real life test.’”
“OK. I’m game!”
“Would you do me a favor, first?” Liz asked. “I think it will really help you.”
“Sure…” I said, wondering what it could be.
“Pay attention to what you’re eating. Then how you feel. Just for a day or two. Would you do this?”
“Well, sure, but it won’t make that much difference, will it?”
“Most people are amazed. You might be, too.”
I felt silly saying, “Well, sure.”
Because I didn’t think for a second that what I ate really affected me. How I thought, what I felt.
Hoo boy.
I paid attention to what I ate. And how I felt. I was surprised at how much I ate. A lot of it came out
of a package. Or a restaurant. Usually a fast-food place.
And even though I was eating from morning to late at night, all day long, I was peaks and valleys of
energy. Rush and crash. Eat to pick myself up, then crash and eat again. Always hungry. With the
5. attention span of… a flea? And I tossed and turned and thrashed all night long… then dragged myself
out of bed in the morning.
That was my life, and I’d never realized it.
I emailed Liz. “Help! Is this normal? It can’t be natural!”
“It’s not natural but, yes, that’s pretty normal for most people.”
“Can you help me?”
“Absolutely. I’ll send you a recipe that my clients just love. So enjoy it all day long, along with some
snacks I’ll tell you about too.”
I looked at the recipe.
Berries. Beets. Kale. The berries sounded good and I didn’t have anything against the beets or the
kale. Plus some ingredients that seemed…downright decadent.
Decadent health food?
I made it, I tried it and thought…
Decadent: check.
Healthy…? Well, everything in it is supposed to be really healthy, but…
Red Smoothie Detox Factor Book Review: "The Red Smoothie Detox Factor" by Liz Swann Miller
I felt mixed emotions when I received The Red Smoothie Detox Factor in the mail. This new book
from Liz Swann Miller promises to help you kick your sugar habits and reset your palate and
metabolism in just three weeks by eating whole foods and avoiding sugar in all its forms. The noble,
6. better part of my soul was excited to try this new challenge, but my appetitive side was looking for
excuses to get out of it. I quickly found the fructose demon on my shoulder rattling off the reasons I
shouldn’t review this Red Smoothie Detox Factor book. “You just had a baby! You’re nursing! And
besides, you don’t really need to do this. You don’t eat a lot of sugar, anyway,” she said slyly.
Author Liz Swann Miller had already thought of all my excuses. I quickly found that the nursing was
no excuse, as her book outlined modifications for people with higher carbohydrate needs, including
pregnant and nursing women and athletes who participate in high-intensity exercise on a regular
basis.
As for not needing a Red Smoothie Detox Factor program like this, that proposition was also
mistaken for me, and I suspect it may be for other people out there. On the list of “No” foods for my
own level, I found several foods that I ate regularly at the time, including all fresh and dried fruits
(except for green-tipped bananas, grapefruit, and Granny Smith apples), cashews and cashew butter,
quinoa, lentils, and white rice. And of course, the lovely jars of pure maple syrup and raw honey in
our pantry would have to wait for later, even though they are “natural” sweeteners. As it turned out,
there were a lot of foods I could do without.
My point is, pretty much anyone can benefit from giving Liz Swann’s Red Smoothie Detox Factor
program a shot. Whether you still eat Twinkies on a daily basis or opt for raw honey or coconut
sugar, The Red Smoothie Detox Factor will help you overcome cravings and put sugar in its proper
place. As Liz Swann notes in the beginning of the book, the program isn’t about avoiding a specific
toxin or drinking juice all day. It’s a whole-food-based program that focuses on achieving a healthy
balance of fat, protein, and carbs. It’s also not to be confused with a low-carb program, and although
you will be ditching the sugar, you won’t be lacking in carbs, which makes it a good fit for beginners.
Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll find in this Red Smoothie Detox Factor book:
Overview about what sugar is and why we crave it
Preparation checklists
What to Expect day-by-day tips
Supplement recommendations
FAQ section
Success log
Guide to replacing foods, food labels, dining out, and fats
Quiz to determine which level you need and details for each plan
Modifications
Meal Plans
Menus for each level
Resources for further reading
As Liz Swann noted in the Red Smoothie Detox Factor book, “To detox from sugar means not only to
rid your body of cravings for it, but also to rid your daily life of the structure built around being a
slave to when you eat sugar, how much you eat, and the form in which you eat it.” To that end, the
book offers more than meal plans and templates. In the beginning of the book, you will find a helpful,
thorough informational chapter about why you should follow the Red Smoothie Detox Factor
program in the first place, and the end of the book is full of resources where you can learn more.
7. Liz Swann also recognizes that when it comes to success with a Red Smoothie Detox Factor program
like this, preparation is key. The preparation checklist helped me get ready for the detox and have a
handy list of the foods I needed to avoid. The “Roadmap to Your Detox” is a short guide to how you
might feel on each day of the detox, and how to avoid slipping up or get back on track when you do
give in to temptation.
And then there are the recipes and meal plans. Following the meal plans is optional, and although I
didn’t follow them strictly, I did find they were extremely helpful. You’ll also find over ninety recipes
that are appropriate for all levels, with tips and modifications included when applicable. Recipes I
tried included:
Bacon and Root Veggie Hash
Broccoli and Herb Egg Muffins
Tomato-basil Quiche with Bacon and Spinach
Mustard-Glazed Chicken Thighs
Italian-style Stuffed Bell Peppers
Balsamic-Braised Beef
Tuna Salad Wraps
Smoky Chicken Tortilla-less Soup
Savory Herb Drop Biscuits
Spicy Thai Nut Mix
Granny Smith Apple Crumble
Even though I already finished the program, I still use this Red Smoothie Detox Factor book
frequently for recipes, particularly for desserts and treats. The recipes are quite simple and easy to
make, and I’m sure that was Liz Swann’s point. It’s hard enough to go 21 days without sugar, and the
meals are low-maintenance but delicious to help you on your journey.
If you complete the Red Smoothie Detox Factor program, you will find that your taste for sugar is
affected. For example, when I first started out, the Granny Smith Apple Crumble did not make a
satisfying after-dinner dessert because it wasn’t sweet enough. I felt like I needed to pour about half
a cup of maple syrup on top to make it truly qualify as a dessert. Now I find it to be the perfect end to
a meal (although just a tad bit of freshly made whipped cream is a nice touch).
In fact, ironically, I feel that after completing this Red Smoothie Detox Factor program I have a
deeper appreciation for sugar in its more subtle forms. I can have a small piece of dark
chocolate when I get a sugar craving and I am satisfied. If you would also like to restore your
relationship with sugar and overcome cravings that make you "hangry," I highly recommend this Red
Smoothie Detox Factor book.
