2. What is Sight & Sound?
Sight & Sound is a magazine company for film
fanatics!
This magazine usually supports and focuses on
British independent films, but also includes the big
Hollywood films, therefore this would be the
perfect magazine we would want our film to be
published by.
If the magazine has a British Social Realism film
on the front cover, the background tends to be a
scene that connotes the film, and relatively a plain
and simple background.
If, however, the film cover is a Hollywood film, the
background is light.
3. Sight & Sound was first published in 1932
In 1934 the management of the company was
handed over to the BFI, which still publishes the
magazine today.
Sight & Sound was published quarterly for most of
its history until the early 1990s, as in 1991 it
merged with another of the BFI’s publication, the
‘Monthly Film Bulletin’ and started to appear
monthly, just like it says on the tin!
