Directions for Digital Scrapbook Assignment
These are the objectives set for this assignment, please refer to them as you complete the project. Students will search through links found on the topic hotlist to locate and save at least six key points and five photos for their digital scrapbook assignment. The data students use in the digital scrapbook is tied to the overall theme of Ancient Egypt; the links used in the scrapbook come only from the links found in the topic hotlist.      	 Using the data the students collect (the photos, key, points, etc.) the students will develop and design a digital scrapbook.    	Students will design a digital scrapbook through one of the following programs; glogster, video (either iMovie or Windows Live Movie Maker), or a SlideShare.    	The students will organize their data in a structured presentation and translate that knowledge to their classmates.
These are standards set by the National Education Technology Standards which are connected to this assignment. 1. Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and process using technology. Students create original works as a means of personal or group expression.    	3. Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate and use information. Students evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.    			6. Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems and operations.
These are standards set by the National Education Technology Standards which are connected to this assignment. SS.A.2.2 The student understands the world from its beginnings to the time of the Renaissance: knows significant scientific and technological achievements of various societies (e.g. mummification and the use of cotton in Egypt). SS.B.1.2 The student understands the world in spatial terms: locates and describes the physical and cultural features of major world regions. SS.A.1.2 The student understands historical chronology and the historical perspective: uses a variety of methods and sources to understand history.
For this assignment you will surf through the sites provided on this TOPIC HOTLIST This assignment will enable to you learn through exploration of a number of websites about Ancient Egypt.
Using the sources provided on the topic hotlist find key points revolving around the following content areas in relation to Ancient Egypt (these are just starting points to consider). The Geography of Egypt: land features (such as the Nile River), landmarks, (such as The Great Sphinx) etc. The culture of Ancient Egypt: What were their families like? What kinds of homes did they live in? What values were important to their culture? Their Religion: Explain their religious practices. Discuss their multiple gods and goddesses. Etc. . . Their type of Government: Who was in charge back then? Did they have presidents . . . Did they have a king . . How did their “government” differ from ours today?
As you search through the websites copy the important data to a word document. Be sure to save the websites on the word document as well so you can add them to your reference page. After you have found all the data you plan to use in your scrapbook you’re ready to get started!
You should be very knowledgeable on the artifacts you chose for your scrapbook, you will have to explain them to your class during a short presentation. We might ask questions . . So you should be ready!!
The next slide provides a rubric which will be used to guide me through the grading process. Please take a look at it as your are working on your project.
