3. I’d like show you some of the things I’ve made and some of the things I’ve done. James Watt was born in Greenock in Scotland , 1736 . He was the son of a ship's chandler. James Watt was a scientist an inventor .
4. I didn’t go to school like other children. I was a weak child. So my mother taught me to read and draw at home. My father taught me mathematics. He also taught me how to use a wide range of tools .
5. I made many things with these tools . There are so many tools. James worked in his workshop a lot. He worked with different metals and wood. As a result, he made many instruments. He also made many models of pulleys and cranes.
6. One day, I was asked to repair an engine. It was and early type of steam engine. I had many problems because It used too much fuel and It was not efficient. Suddenly, I had am idea! I wanted to make a better steam engine.
7. Look, that’s my new steam engine, Konrad. Do you like it? Wow! I like it very much! James Watt worked on his idea for several months. Finally, he came up with a better steam engine. His engine used less fuel. It was also more efficient. It was used for pumping water out of the mines.
8. This is the factory where we built the steam engines . It’s very big! In 1774 James Watt set up his own company in England. He made steam engines. He sold 500 engines. He earned a lot of money.
9. This is the flyball governor. What’s this Mr. Watt ? The flyball governor helped the steam engine to work better. It regulated speed of the engine.
10. James Watt i n vented a copying machine. He called it a press copier. It made copies of documents. It used ink mixed with gum. He made and sold his press copiers. A press copier by James Watt A modern copier Press Copier
11. The Sculpture Copier James Watt was very fruitful inventor. He invented a machine to copy sculptures. It was a very clever machine. I invented this machine to make copies of sculptures. Do you like it ? Yes, I do. It is a very nice invention.
12. James Watt was a great engineer. It made a lot of drawings of the inventions. He died in 1819. You can see the drawings, tools and his inventions in his workshop in London.
