1. Our upcoming project is based on determining the differences and similarities in the four different seasons of the year. it is designed for the children to be creative and develop their own project of their favorite season and some characteristics of it. They should chose their favorite of the four and create a poster illustrating the things that are associated with that season and what makes each one unique. The Four Seasons Project
2. Curriculum Framing Questions Essential Question: What are the four seasons and what are some distinct characteristics that make up each one? Unit Questions: How are the seasons alike? How are they different? What is your favorite one? Content Questions: What is the weather like in each season? What are some activities you can do associated with a particular season? Do any animals behave differently according to the season?
3. Project Based Learning & Standards, Objectives, and Benefits of the Unit Project based learning is simply a more student centered, hands on approach to learning that engages the students by making learning more fun. We will use PBL to reach the following: Science Standard: To identify the four seasons of the year. Objective: For students to be able to describe the characteristics of each of the four seasons. Benefits from the project: Developing skills in creativity and innovation by making something of their own and social skills by learning how to present things to their classmates.
4. Parents!! You are strongly encouraged to help your child gather things at home to put on their poster to make each one unique. Talk over the project with them and make any suggestions that will help make their project even better! We will all be sharing them in class to learn more about each one! Do not hesitate to contact me if anything is needed! bdhelton@crimson.ua.edu Thanks so much! Ms. Helton
