4. What to use to enhance and protect?
4
Dye
Always organic substance which is soluble in the application medium
Pigment
Organic or inorganic substance which is insoluble in the application
medium (resin, solvent)
Pigment preparation
Pigment preparations are a ready-to-use form of organic or inorganic
pigments, optimally formulated for use in wood coatings for indoor and
outdoor applications

10. Intention of Solar Heat Management
Reflect more solar radiation from colored surfaces, while keeping the color
as requested
Keep surfaces cooler
Allow flexibility in color design while being compliant with regulations
Enhance the personal thermal comfort feeling
Maintain constructional strength and surface material durability under solar
irradiation
Contribute to a reduced “Urban Heat Island Effect”

11. Keeping your dark shades “cooler”
Effect of using Xfast Black 0095 or Luconyl NG
Black instead of carbon black exhibits results as
expected, lower temperature uptake. Differences
observed up to 13°C.
Offering: Longer color retention & increased
durability of wood and wood constructions
with respect to shrinkage, cracking, etc.
Darker shades (higher black content) will of
course have the greater effect on heat uptake
when swapping to Xfast Black 0095 but will also
have the highest cost increase shades.
