The deep learning models utilizing massive computing power and enormous datasets have significantly outperformed prior historical benchmarks on increasingly difficult, well-defined research tasks across technology domains such as computer vision, natural language processing, signal processing, and human-computer interactions. However, the Black-Box nature of deep learning models and their over-reliance on massive amounts of data condensed into labels and dense representations pose challenges for the system’s interpretability and explainability. Furthermore, deep learning methods have not yet been proven in their ability to effectively utilize relevant domain knowledge and experience critical to human understanding. This aspect is missing in early data-focused approaches and necessitated knowledge-infused learning and other strategies to incorporate computational knowledge. Rapid advances in our ability to create and reuse structured knowledge as knowledge graphs make this task viable. In this talk, we will outline how knowledge, provided as a knowledge graph, is incorporated into the deep learning methods using knowledge-infused learning. We then discuss how this makes a fundamental difference in the interpretability and explainability of current approaches and illustrate it with examples relevant to a few domains.

The principles surrounding Linked Open Data and their implementation within digital libraries are well understood. Such implementations may be challenging, but successes are now well documented and continue to demonstrate the benefits of disseminating and enriching existing metadata with improved semantics and relational associations. Often facilitated in machine-readability enhancements to metadata by harnessing serializations of the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and its reliance of URIs, these LOD approaches have ensured digital libraries, and similar GLAMR initiatives elsewhere, contribute to the growing knowledge graphs associated with the wider semantic web by declaring statements of fact about web entities. Within open scholarly ecosystems a growing use of persistent identifiers (PIDs) to define and link scholarly entities has emerged, e.g., DOIs, ORCIDs, etc. The requirement for greater URI persistence has been motivated by several developments within the scholarly space; suffice to state that, when combined with appropriate structured data, PIDs can support improvements to resource discovery, as well as facilitate contributions to the ‘PID graph’ – a scholarly data graph describing and declaring associative relations between scholarly entities. While the increased adoption of PIDs has the potential to transform scholarship, ensuring that these PIDs are used appropriately, encoded correctly within metadata, and that all relevant relational associations between scholarly entities are declared presents challenges. This is especially true within open scholarly repositories, from where many contributions to the PID graph will be made but – unlike many LOD contexts – from where the authority to assert specific relations may not always exist. Such declarations need to demonstrate reliability and provenance and are central to the interlinking of heterogeneous textual objects, datasets, software, research instruments, equipment, and the related PIDs these items may generate, such as for people, organizations, or other abstract entities. This paper will explore the issues that arise when levels of authority to assert are lacking or are uncertain, and review results from a related study exploring the ‘PID literacy’ of scholars... Abstract. The interest of “Citizen Scientists” in their local environment is potentially of great value because they can assist in supplying essential “Environmental Knowledge” in an efficient and cost-effective way. This is particularly the case when “Volunteered Data” is registered in a standardized manner, interoperable with the data created by official institutions. The present work incorporates OpenStreetMap (OSM) and broadly accepted metadata-standards, that are controlled by scientific communities, to include the use of standardized interfaces for volunteered data contributions. An essential requirement for citizen science to operate, is the participation of the people. Spatial cognition is concerned with the acquisition, organization, employment, and examination of “knowledge about spatial environments”. By this means “knowledge about spatial environments” is related to geographic proximity. Both OSM and metadata standards explore recent technologies for “Semantic Web” (SW) and “Linked Open Data” (LOD) enablement. The present study discusses the challenges and effects of standardized community contributions. Knowledge graphs have been conceived to collect heterogeneous data and knowledge about large domains, e.g. medical or engineering domains, and to allow versatile access to such collections by means of querying and logical reasoning. A surge of methods has responded to additional requirements in recent years. (i) Knowledge graph embeddings use similarity and analogy of structures to speculatively add to the collected data and knowledge. (ii) Queries with shapes and schema information can be typed to provide certainty about results. We survey both developments and find that the development of techniques happens in disjoint communities that mostly do not understand each other, thus limiting the proper and most versatile use of knowledge graphs.

Starting with education, inception of research questions, planning, acquisition, analysis and reporting, there are multiple points where Open Science should play a role. In my presentation at the CuttingEEG conference in Paris, I argue that we should not only be sharing primary outcomes as Open Access publications, but that openness involves the full research cycle. Specifically, I will be sharing my experience with Open Data, privacy challenges and possibilities under the GDPR, Open Source for sharing analysis methods, dealing with imperfections in science and versioning of data, code and results. Finally, I will introduce BIDS for EEG, a new effort to increase the impact of shared and well-documented EEG data.

This tutorial seeks to showcase AI strategies that provide medical context to patient data with the help of a knowledge graph. This supports personalization through a personalized knowledge graph that captures the patient’s personalized health management objectives within the context of the clinical guidelines and care plan. The continuous capture of this information through the analysis of patient-VHA interactions, and the strategy of creating engaging interactions (conversations) can further augment the personalized knowledge graph. These operations are required to support self-appraisal and self-management, and when necessary perform fail-safe tasks such as connecting the patient to a crisis help-line or professional help. The core innovation is the use of a novel knowledge-infused reinforcement learning method. The by-product of this approach leads to transparency in decision-making with the ability to offer a user understandable explanation. https://www.knowledgegraph.tech/kgc-2022-tutorial-knowledge-infused-reinforcement-learning/ More Information: https://aiisc.ai/kirl/

Part 1: My Discussion Please check with Ulrich’s Periodical Directory http://library.waldenu.edu/728.htm to ensure citations are peer reviewed. Focus: Developing Your Introduction The introduction to a research study has a specific purpose and functionality that sets it apart from introductions you have probably read in books and popular literature. Although the introduction should engage the reader, it should also highlight particular information about the study and its orientation. For example, your introduction should have a purpose statement that explains particular elements of your study and sets the context for your study. To prepare for this Discussion: Review: · Chapters 5, 6, and 7 in the Creswell text to learn more about introductions, the purpose statement, research questions, and hypotheses; focus on the templates and examples in these chapters · Chapter 2, “Manuscript Structure and Content” in the APA Manual · The “A Typology of Research Purposes and its Relationship to Mixed Methods” book excerpt, which examines the research process, developing research questions, and using mixed methods · Sections on Introductions and Conclusions in the Introductions and Conclusions webpage · The Problem Statements interactive media Post a 350-word abbreviated version of your Introduction required in this week’s Assignment. Be sure to include a problem statement, purpose statement, research questions, and hypotheses. Also include a rationale for your proposed study by referring to your literature review and how your problem statement emerged out of your analysis of the literature. Include at least two questions that will elicit comments and suggestions from your colleagues. Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the reading(s) and/or media segment(s) and use APA format. ================================================== Part 2: Respond to at two of your colleagues' postings Respond toat two of your colleagues' postings. In your responses, be sure to consider the following: · Does the problem or issue identified justify this study? · How can the problem be framed in a way that is consistent with a research approach? · Do the past studies mentioned justify the problem's importance? · Do the specific deficiencies in past studies justify this study? · Does the purpose statement sufficiently provide a general working direction of the central phenomenon? · Do the research questions and hypotheses align with the problem statement and purpose statement? Colleague #1 Background of the Problem The general IT promised that new threats are targeting virtual machines that reside on a hypervisor host. These threats are able to determine if a machine is a virtual machine and take actions accordingly (Donaldson, Coull, & McLuskie 2017). Once the threat is embedded on the host is capable of intercepting virtual machine and the host therefore compromising the security of the host and every virtual machine on it. .

Explore how multimodal embeddings work with Milvus. We will see how you can explore a popular multimodal model - CLIP - on a popular dataset - CIFAR 10. You use CLIP to create the embeddings of the input data, Milvus to store the embeddings of the multimodal data (sometimes termed “multimodal embeddings”), and we will then explore the embeddings.

We present an architecture of embedding models, vector databases, LLMs, and narrow ML for tracking global news narratives across a variety of countries/languages/news sources. As an example, we explore the real-time application of this architecture for tracking the news narrative surrounding the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny coming from Russian, French, and English sources.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.

Retrieval augmented generation (RAG) is the most popular style of large language model application to emerge from 2023. The most basic style of RAG works by vectorizing your data and injecting it into a vector database like Milvus for retrieval to augment the text output generated by an LLM. This is just the beginning. One of the ways that we can extend RAG, and extend AI, is through multilingual use cases. Typical RAG is done in English using embedding models that are trained in English. In this talk, we’ll explore how RAG could work in languages other than English. We’ll explore French, Chinese, and Polish.
