  2. Shel is a great person to follow on Twitter. He is down to earth and very helpful when it comes to using Twitter and other social media platforms. His blog also offers great many great tips.
  3. I really had no idea until Jan. 2010 when I signed up for my first Twitter account. It’s taken sometime to get used to navigating everything, but I learn something new everyday.
  4. Chris Brogan is another great guy to follow on Twitter. He is a pioneer of social media as well as a published author. His book ‘Trust Agents’ is a New York Times bestseller.
  5. Twitter IS like a blog, but MUCH smaller. Messages can only be 140 characters. If you have hopes of being re-tweeted then you need to make your tweet less than the 140 characters allowed to allow for the name of the person being re-tweeted and the letters ‘RT.’
  6. This picture screamed inefficiency to me. Traffic is slow moving. In fact some have stalled on the roadside. Others are turned and seem to be lost.
  7. I have been arguing against social media for a while now. I felt like it was an invasion of privacy and I didn’t much see the need for it. Not after experiencing being in Professor Nixon’s I have changed my tune.
  8. Traditional ads cost a lot of money and many people aren’t buying what corporations are telling them. They would rather hear the information from trusted people like family and friends.
  9. I can attest the efficiency of Twitter. As soon as anything of importance happens tweets are flying, pictures are being uploaded, and hash marks begin trending on the topic. I really the efficiency of Twitter in action after the most recent Haitian earthquake.
  10. I had never heard of Laura Fitton before and I don’t know much about her on Twitter. I do know from reading the book that she can attest to the unsavory people who lurk on Twitter. Be careful who you friend.
  11. This was the perfect picture of cozy. I could curly up there with a book for hours.
  12. And this reminded me of the pictures of the small village in which my grandmother grew up in France.
  13. Twitter is not just a way to connect with friends and family. There is so much more that users can get out of their Twitter experience. Right now I’m using it to learn more about the field of public relations. I’ve already discovered HAPPO or Help a PR Professional Out; many public relations professionals are finding jobs through HAPPO.
  14. Twitter operates on a massive scale. I have conversations with people from Asia, England, Australia, and the U.S. Imaging what your phone bill would look like if you had to call those places.
  15. On Twitter there are niches for everyone.
  16. One of my new favorites. There are also some great public relations students to follow on Twitter: @Mikinzie & @bitty_boop are two of my faves.
  17. Did you know that many drivers have Twitter accounts and give away free tickets and merchandise to their fans. @DennyHamlin is always giving out trivia questions on race weekends giving away tickets to the first right answer. Oh, you have to be there to get the ticket too!
  18. I love music and I know many musicians have verified Twitter accounts. There you can find out information about concerts and get to know the artist a little better.
  19. This picture IS what Twitter looks like to me if you could capture it in the form of an image. Tiny pieces and niches come together on a large scale to create the mosaic that is Twitter.
  20. There are still times where Twitter gets ‘too big for it’s britches.’ Needless to say in those times you will be greeted with the ever so cute Fail Whale. (=
  21. Heard the saying, “The customer is always right.” This is true in many cases. Twitter has given consumers more control by allowing them free, unrestricted speech when talking about products.
  22. Ever seen the commercial: I told two friend and they told two friends, and so on. This is true for many of us. If we hear about a great place to eat from a friend we are more likely to go. The reverse is true when our friends give an unfavorable review of a product or service.
  23. The book is filled with stories that make the Twitter experience more real.
  24. Many regular people have become Twitter celebrities. You could be next.
  25. Twitter is a great tool for promoting small businesses. Using Twitter small businesses can bring customers to them.
