busca de aquella ciudad dorada que –según cuenta
la leyenda- los encandilaría con su riqueza.

9. Amazonas: donde los árboles no dejan ver el bosque

descubrir el río Amazonas, del cual el Napo es un importante afluente.
Luego de comprar linternas y de refrescarse con un jugo de coco natural, el grupo emprende un viaje en
lancha por más de una hora desde Coca hacia el este, hasta lo que será su hotel por los próximos cuatro
días: el Manatee Amazon Explorer. Este barco navega las aguas del Napo durante 12 horas diarias,
en dirección al Parque Nacional Yasuní, para acercarlos a las maravillas de la jungla. Cuando el río
está muy bajo para que el Manatee navegue, el grupo se embarca en un pequeño bote para explorar la
vida de la selva. Tras recorridos de día y de noche descubren que, cuando las criaturas diurnas –como
monos araña, loros, garzas estriadas, guacamayos, pumas y jaguares- se van a dormir, despiertan los
protagonistas de la noche para llenar de música el telón negro de una selva iluminada por las estrellas,
insectos de luz y los ojos de caimanes que observan sigilosamente el paso del bote a pocos metros.

The Amazonas: where trees won’t let you see the forest
