4. CHAPTER 1: Intro – Welcome To Wizardry School
Before getting into this course, I suppose I should introduce myself to you. My
name is Jonathan Heusman and I have been studying, implementing and learning
online marketing for 6+ years now. After dabbling in a little bit of everything, I
eventually found that Search Engine Optimization (also referred to as SEO) was
my favorite thing to do and I found it to be one of the easiest and at the same
time, the most challenging parts of online business. I have ranked dozens of sites
on the first page of Google and have even consulted for some large to midsize
companies.
When I am not working on my online business, I like to watch college sports, play
sports, play with my daughter and spend quality time with the wifey. The better I
get at my online business, the more I get to do the things I listed above. This is a
large part of why I wanted to write this guide. To help YOU get better at your
online business. Ultimately, I hope this guide will help others to realize their goals
of spending more time doing the things they love.
Ok, so on to what this guide is about and why I say that SEO is pretty darn easy.
The fact is that SEO consists of 80% to 90% building backlinks to your website. It is
that simple. More and more people are beginning to discover that there is
nothing magical about it other than just DOING it.
Now you might be asking if it is easy, how can it be challenging? The reason SEO is
also one of the most challenging parts of your online business is because most
people can’t figure out where and how to get the high quality, relevant backlinks
that they need on a consistent basis. There are Social Bookmarking sites, article
directories, video sites and the like, but those will only get your site so far because
EVERYONE knows about them and uses them. As time goes on, my prediction is
that these types of links will become less and less effective. Without other
consistent sources of high quality and high Page Rank (PR) backlinks, your chances
of ranking where you want will go down exponentially.
That is where this course comes in.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 4
5. With just some basic knowledge, this guide will arm you with the skills and
knowledge to create backlinks anytime that you want and from as many different
sources as you want. That will just leave the task up to you of implementing what
you learn and reaping the rewards of your backlink prospecting.
Now I am not much for fluff and filler, so I am not going to drone on and on while
you sit there wondering when the real content is going to start, so let’s keep this
short and head on to the next section.

6. CHAPTER 2: Backlink Prospecting – What Is It?
The core fundamental idea of Backlink Wizardry is prospecting for backlinks.
Mastering this will be like mastering the arts of wizardry! In a nutshell,
prospecting for backlinks is the act of using a search engine (we will be using
Google) to discover websites, blogs, forums, guest books and anywhere else that
you can think of that will allow you to somehow post a backlink to your website.
The real magic of prospecting happens with just HOW we use Google to do it.
You might have already prospected in the past and not even realized it. Have you
ever searched for something like “my keyword blog”, where my keyword is
replaced by a keyword in your niche, in order to find blogs relevant to your niche
or keyword? If you have done this or something similar, then you can already
consider yourself a junior backlinking wizard! You are on your way. If you
haven’t, don’t worry, that example above is the basic idea of what this guide is all
about.
We are going to be using some serious ninja techniques to find backlinks that 99%
of other marketers would never discover. And one point you may or may not
already know is that the less backlinks coming from a source, the more link juice
each backlink will receive. This is a large part of what makes link prospecting so
powerful and so important. A lot of the backlink opportunities you will find will
have very few comments on them. Some of them will have dozens or even
hundreds already, but every bit of link juice counts. It is just a lot more fun to find
the backlink opportunities that have not been discovered by most.
With our advanced prospecting knowledge, we will be able to find the real gems
that have not been discovered by mere mortals. This is the power of knowing how
to prospect for backlinks and what makes it so fun when you find those high value
backlink sources.
So as mentioned above, typing in a search string such as “my keyword blog” at
Google will likely return a number of blogs related to your keyword. This is great,
but chances are that these blogs have already been discovered by a whole lot of
marketers in the same or similar niches. And since you have not given Google very
strict search operators, you will likely have to wade through the results to find
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 6
7. maybe just 1 or 2 good opportunities to gain a backlink. In truth, a search string
like that is really only scratching the surface.
We all know how huge and powerful Google is; well doesn’t it make sense that
the Google Search Engine has some very powerful search capabilities that we can
take advantage of? I am going to teach you just how to use them to prospect for
backlinks. You will be amazed at how you can tell Google to search for EXACTLY
what you want and will discover sites that you never would have otherwise.
I want to give you as much knowledge as I can on effectively searching with
Google. It will be a lot to take in, so try not to get overwhelmed. Take notes, print
this guide out, highlight important pieces and get ready to discover how you can
turn Google into your personal backlink finding slave.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 7
8. CHAPTER 3: How Do We Propsect For Backlinks
Ok, now we can start getting into the nitty-gritty. In order to prospect for
backlinks we need to know 2 basic things. We need to know what a footprint is
and how to use advanced Google search operators in our searches. There is
nearly an infinite number of combinations using Footprints and Advanced Search
Operators to come up with Advanced Search Strings to locate backlinking
opportunities. But before we can run, we need to learn how to crawl, so let’s
begin.
What is a Footprint?
In a nutshell, a footprint is a piece of code or a sentence that website scripts have.
For an example, let’s say that a person builds a website about bicycle baskets and
decides to start a forum for people to discuss their awesome bicycle baskets.
Well, they have to choose some sort of forum script to use, such as phpbb,
vBulletin or something else. A common footprint that you will see is the
“Powered by …” footprint. If the person decides to use the phpbb forum script,
there is a footprint in all installations of phpbb, which is “Powered by phpbb” at
the bottom of the forum. Every now and then a webmaster will remove this
footprint, but this rarely happens. So you may have already guessed now that if
you were to search for “powered by phpbb” with Google, you will find a TON of
forums running on the phpbb script.
You are probably already seeing the power of footprints!
Just to summarize further, the footprint for the phpbb forum script is “powered
by phpbb”. There may be other possible footprints for the script, but this is the
most common one and works very well.
For every forum script, blogging script, commenting script, guestbook script, etc…
you will almost always be able to find a common footprint to search for. Luckily
for you, I have compiled a pretty good size list to get you started, which I share in
an upcoming chapter.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 8
9. Just knowing how to search for footprints is pretty powerful, but we don’t want
just “pretty powerful”, we want to take this to the next level. That is where the
advanced Google Web Operators come in.
What Are Advanced Google Search Operators?
The general population has no idea how to REALLY use Google to its full potential,
but then again, they don’t really need to. Internet Marketers however can greatly
benefit by using Google to its full potential. And to do this, we need to use
Google’s often little known advanced web operators.
What these advanced search operators can do is tell Google to search in a certain
way in order to narrow down our results and find exactly what we want. We can
even use them to find sites that have been changed within the previous 24 hours.
One common example of an advanced Google search term that you may have
seen is inurl: To use this particular term, pretend your niche is still bicycle baskets.
You could use this to find sites about bike baskets that a backlink could be placed
at such as blog posts, forum posts, etc. To perform this search, just type
“inurl:bikebaskets” without the quotes, into the Google search box. Go ahead
and do that now. Look at the 3rd result. It looks like a possible blog post to
comment on. In case you aren’t sure how I came to the conclusion that is a blog
post, it is because of the date in the url. As you prospect for backlinks more, you
will begin to notice these types of things and be able to quickly pick out possible
backlinking targets from the search results.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 9
10. Clicking on that result, you will see that the post has no comments on it. This can
either be a good sign or a bad sign. It could mean that nobody has discovered this
post to comment on (good!), or it could mean the blog owner does not actively
approve comments (bad!). But making a simple relevant comment will take you
just a few seconds and will be an easy backlink if approved. This is not the
greatest example as there are not a lot of pages about bike baskets, but you can
see from the search, 2,830 results of pages with bikebaskets in the url. Scanning
through, most do not look like good backlink opportunities. But that doesn’t
bother us because we will be using more advanced techniques to filter out all the
rubbish and discover the golden backlink building opportunities quickly and easily.
As a side note, you could have also put a space between bike and baskets, so it
would be “inurl:bike baskets”. This would return different results and give many
more results, so anytime you have 2 words or more in your targeted keyword,
you will want to try using different combinations of spaces and no spaces
between the words to get even more targeted results.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 10
11. There are several more useful advanced Google search operators that we will go
over that will take our backlink prospecting to a new level. Knowing these and
how to use them is half the battle and by the end of this guide, you will know just
that.
Once we know about Footprints and Advanced Google Search Operators, we can
really start to have some fun by combining the power of the two to create
advanced search strings. Before we get to that, I want to give you an awesome
starter list of Footprints and advanced Google search operators in the next
Chapter.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 11
12. CHAPTER 4: The Most Common Backlinking Footprints
The following is a list of common footprints that you can use to find forums,
blogging platforms, guestbooks and more for your backlink prospecting. Alone
these may not seem like much, but when we use these to combine with advanced
search operators, our keywords and some crafty thinking, they become very
powerful.
Nearly ALL of these footprints can be used with your niche keyword(s) to return
relevant results. Google puts more weight on niche relevant backlinks and it is
just a great way to dig deeper in Google by using keywords.
These footprints will help you to locate websites that you can register an account
at to drop a backlink, add a url, find directories and more. Use your common
sense when looking at the footprints and do a little trial and error to find out what
type of results will return for each.

Finding Web Directories:
Here is a simple formula for finding web directories.
Start with one of the words: Add, Suggest, Recommend, Submit, etc…
Followed by a keyword or a * (you will learn what the * does in the next chapter)
Finished with one of the words: Link, Site,URL, Website, Feed, Blog, etc…
This is in no way comprehensive list of Common Footprints as there are new
platforms being used every day, new footprints being discovered and thus new
opportunities for us. So just always keep your eye out for new footprints that you
could use to prospect for backlinks. You never know when you might just hit gold.
In the next chapter we will go over the advanced search operators that we can
use to search Google more effectively and combine with these footprints to
create some seriously powerful search strings.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 18
19. CHAPTER 5: Advanced Google Search Operators
This will be a quick chapter that will give you the advanced search operators that
you can use to really find the some serious backlinking opportunities. But just
because it is short doesn’t mean to take it for granted. This could be the most
powerful information in this guide once you know how to use it.
List of search operators:
Site: - this operator is used with a url in order to find all indexed pages for a
particular domain.
Example: site:yoursite.com
Inurl: -this operator is used to search for url’s that contain a specific word or
words in it.
Example: inurl:bike baskets
Allintitle: - this operator is used to search for pages that contain multiple specific
words in their title.
Exmple: allintitle:bike seats
- - this operator is used to exclude results with specific words in them.
Example: bikes “post a comment” -nofollow
+ - this operator is used to include results with specific words in them.
Example: bikes “post a comment” +dofollow
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 19
20. Intitle: - this operator is used to include results with a single specific word in the
page title.
Example: intitle:bikebags
Intext: - this operator is used to include results with specific words anywhere in
the page text.
Example: intext:bike bags
* - this operator is used as a wild card. So if you were to search for “the best *”,
the results would come back with any page that was about the best something.
Example: “top * toys” This will return results such as top 5 toys, top
Christmas toys, etc…
~ - this operator is used to search for all synonyms of the word directly following
it.
Example: dog training ~advice (this will also search for terms such as dog
training instruction, dog training guide, dog training tips etc…)
.. - this operator is used to search for a range of numbers.
Example: Top 1..99 ab exercises (this will return any post such as top 12 ab
exercises)
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 20
21. Filetype: - this will allow you to search for just a certain filetype such as a .doc or
.pdf file.
Example: filetype:pdf dog tricks will find pdf files related to dog tricks.
| - this operator is used as an OR operator, allowing you to search for keyword1
OR keyword2
Example: best dog tricks|training (Will return results for best dog tricks or
best dog training).
Now hopefully you are already thinking about how you can use some of these
along with the footprints that you now know to create some seriously powerful
search strings. If it still isn’t coming together for you, don’t worry. In the next
chapter I will be giving you a whole bunch of powerful search string examples that
I often use.
You will find with the search strings that I show you; it is super easy to make a
slight change to them in order to get different results to meet your needs. That is
what makes this so fun and rewarding.
I would also like to note that Google does have an advanced search page that
most people do not know about that utilizes most of these advanced search
operators for you. I just find that this is not as flexible or easy to use. This is
largely in part because once you come up with a good search string, you can just
copy and save it for use in the future. I find this much easier than trying to setup
the advanced search again every time at the advanced Google search page.
Here is the page address for your curiosity.

Page 21
22. CHAPTER 6: Now The Magic Happens – Putting It All Together
We have now arrived at my favorite part of this guide. We are going to go over a
bunch of examples of how we can combine the footprints with the Advanced
Search Operators to make some seriously powerful backlink finding search strings.
This is what separates the true wizards from the wannabes. And I am here to
show you how to be one of the TRUE backlinking wizards.
Now pay attention, pull up a chair, grab a beer, coffee, pop or water and let’s get
into the goods. Feel free to use any of these to find yourself some backlinks, but I
highly encourage you to use these as inspiration for creating your own killer
search strings that will magically bring you more backlinking opportunities than
you thought possible!
Advanced Backlink Wizardry Search Strings
inurl:/register.php “keyword” - this will search for registration pages by using the
inurl function to look in the url and the register.php footprint. Keyword can be
replaced with any keyword you choose to search for specific niches. This will give
a broad range of results from forums to guestbooks to web 2.0 sites, and more.
TIP: often times I will include an additional keyword such as “forum” or “blog” to
show more targeted results.
“keyword” blog site:.edu -captcha -nofollow “leave a comment” - this may look
complex at first, but it breaks down pretty simple. It will search for sites that
contain a blog and the keyword you choose. It will only search for .edu sites. It
will exclude any sites that say captcha or nofollow on them and it will look for the
words leave a comment on the site. Basically it will find .edu blogs that are able
to be commented on. VERY POWERFUL.
“keyword” site:.edu “comment” -“you must be logged in” -“posting closed” “comment closed” - this is just a variation on the previous search string. It is
important to note that you can change the .edu portion to any other extension
such as .gov, .com, info, etc… In the previous example, you may also change blog
to a different footprint word such as forum or guestbook or any other number of
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 22
23. footprints that you learned earlier in this guide. Change things up and find the
gold no one else is finding!
Some other variations on finding blogs to comment on:
inurl:.gov+inurl:blog
“keyword” site:.gov inurl:blog
site:.com inurl:blog “post a comment”
“keyword”+inurl:blog site:.edu
site:.edu inurl:”wordpress” + “leave a comment”
As you can probably tell, the order of footprints and advanced search operators
does not really matter.
Go through the footprints and other search operators and see what you can come
up with for finding blogs to comment on for backlinks.
Before I go on to some more advanced search strings, I want to show you a very
cool trick. There is a way to search for recent content in Google. Take one of
these search strings and paste them into the address bar and hit enter, then try
an advanced search string in the Google search box and you will get back only
new results depending on which one you use below. It is a great way to find fresh
places to get backlinks from.
www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=your keyword&as_qdr=d - posts in the last day
www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=your keyword&as_qdr=w - posts in the last week
www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=your keyword&as_qdr=m - posts in the last month
www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=your keyword&as_qdr=m2 - posts in the last 2 months
www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=your keyword&as_qdr=m6 - posts in the last 6 months
However, Google also allows you to do this by just using their built in tools which,
but not with as much flexibility of the timeframe. After you perform one of your
searches, just look on the left and you should see an option for “More Search
Options”. If you click that, it should display an option to show results for different
ranges of dates.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 23
24. Here are some advanced search strings that I would typically use to find forums to
leave backlinks. You can find an unlimited supply of Paul and Angela type backlink
locations using searches like these.
site:.edu “powered by vbulletin” – Searches for forums powered by vbulletin that
are on a .edu domain. Could also do “Powered by Invision Power Board” or
/phpbb2 or “powered by SMF” for the footprint to see what different results you
get. There are other gems from the footprint list you will find as well.
inurl:login site:.com “forum” – this searches for sites that have a .com domain
that have a login form in the url and are about forum. You could also add a
keyword to find more niche specific forums.
“keyword” forum site:.gov – this searches for a keyword that you choose, sites
with forum in them and on a .gov domain.
Additional variations for finding forums:
inurl:phpbb2 site:.edu
inurl:forum site:.mil
“keyword” “powered by vbulletin” inurl:forum
inurl:forum.*.edu
inurl:forum.*.com “keyword”
Just try to get creative. Once you have a good understanding of the pieces and
how they work, you can put them together almost a limitless number of ways.
Here are some other good search strings for finding Wiki’s, Social Networking
Sites and Web 2.0 sites:
site:.edu wiki
site:.edu inurl:wiki
inurl:bravenet.com
“powered by buddypress” “keyword”
inurl:ning.com
inurl:/main/authorization/SignIn
inurl:/main/authorization/SignUp
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 24
25. “powered by elgg” “keyword”
inurl:register.php + “powered by elgg”
Another great search you can use that I haven’t even added to the footprints, is
to search for guest blogging opportunities if you would like to gain backlinks
through guest posts. Try these searches.
“keyword” “guest blogger”
“keyword” “become a contributor”
“keyword” “write for us”
I tend to use these next ones more for finding content and doing research, but
you can find some great blogs to comment on as well.
“top 1..99 ways” blog
“top 1..99 reasons” blog
“top 1..99 list” blog
These searches will find list based posts such as Top 27 ways to workout. Of
course with each of these advanced searches, you can include a keyword to find
list type posts on specific topics. Also, if you want lists that are no smaller than
15, then change the numbers to 15..99. I actually think this is one of the funnest
searches, because top lists are always interesting and informative.
One more golden nugget of a search you can use is to use a variant of one of the
following search string in order to find lists that others have compiled of different
backlinking opportunities.
Intitle:list “keyword phrase”
“list * keyword * sites”
"high pr" "autoapprove"
“list * keyword * sites”
I have not used all of the possible search operators in these examples, but don’t
let that keep you from experimenting with the others. I just don’t want to
overwhelm you before you even get started.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 25
26. My hope is that you can see that this is just scratching the surface of what can be
done and how to find as many backlinking opportunities as you could possibly
imagine. I am coming up with new advanced search strings every day to find
some killer backlink opportunities, and I hope that you will be too. With this
knowledge, you can sell backlinking services, build some powerful link juice to
your own sites or even sell link packs like Paul and Angela of the Warrior Forum.
Whatever you decide to do, the important thing is that you take this knowledge
and TAKE ACTION.

27. CHAPTER 7: Creating Your Backlinks
Ok, I bet you thought I was going to leave you hanging here. Well think again! I
know a good majority of people are experienced in creating backlinks on different
platforms, but not everybody. Some people may just be experienced in creating
forum profiles and blog comments, but not with getting backlinks from Wiki sites.
So that is what this chapter will cover. But that is not all.
Creating your backlinks isn’t just about the WAY to do it, but also the HOW. Are
you going to do it all manually yourself? Or would you prefer to spend a little
money on tools that make it faster and easier? Or maybe you want to outsource
the creation? It really comes down to personal preference and what fits your
situation, so I will just cover some what my experience is in using these different
methods of backlink creation.
First however, let’s briefly cover the way to create your backlinks for different
platforms. I would like to cover the most common, which are posting comments
on blogs, creating forum profiles, social bookmarking and posting to/editing
wiki’s. Lets begin.
Some real quick words first on what to use for your e-mails and names when you
must sign up for an account to create a backlink. I typically will create a new email address for any new website or “project”. I will use that e-mail for creating
accounts for backlinks. As far as what name to use when signing up for your
accounts, I recommend using a pen name or a made up name. There really is no
reason to use your real name. And as far as username, I will use a different
username for each website or project I am doing backlinking for. Save all of this
info in a text file for each of your websites for easy reference.
Comment Posting Backlinks: Posting comments to receive a backlink is probably
the most widely known way to gain a backlink. But there is a right way and a
wrong way to do it. Anybody who has run a blog, has received a ton of ridiculous,
gibberish spam comments from backlinkers doing it the wrong way. I wonder to
myself why are they even bothering with these comments. Things that I often see
are that the comments don’t make sense, they aren’t relevant or they are just
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 27
28. right in your face spam. These are the WRONG ways to comment on blogs for a
backlink.
The right way to do it is to at a minimum scan the blog post that you are about to
comment on and pick some information out that you can comment on. You don’t
necessarily have to read the entire post; just quickly look for something in the
post that you can comment about. Once you have found it, make a comment
around it that is at least 2 sentences long so it looks like you at least put some
thought into it. Doing this will increase your chances of having your comment
approved ten fold. I know personally if I receive a well written comment on one
of my blogs but I can still see that the comment was made for a backlink, I will
approve it anyway.
The second thing to take into account when blog commenting is what to put in
the name field. Ideally you want to put your keyword anchor text in the name
field, but many blogs, especially high ranking ones will see this and not approve
your comment even if it is a good comment. If you use your real name or a pen
name, your chances will go be much better. However, whether you use your
anchor text or your real name is up to you. I tend to use my anchor text on blogs
that are lower Pagerank or popularity and I’ll use my real name on high Pagerank
blogs. It also helps to scan the comments that are already approved and see if
there are any approved that are using keyword anchor text rather than a name.
Forum Profile Backlinks: Forum profile backlinks are pretty easy once you have
done a couple of them. Chances are that you have joined a forum at some point
in your life. Well 99% of forums have the same type of registration process, so
once you have registered at one you will know how to register at most others.
So once you find some forums you would like to get backlinks from, you will
register at them, then you will need to look for your user profile or user settings
area or something similar. Inside there are usually one of two places you can post
a backlink. An actual URL area for a personal website or an About me section. If
it is the URL area, you just enter your url and save your profile. However, if it is
the about me section, it can be a little tricky. What is good about the About me
section is you can leave a backlink with your keyword anchor text, but there are 3
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 28
29. different types of forum code that you could see that have to be used. The key is
to look below the about me box or somewhere on the profile pages for the syntax
you should be using. Some use “textile” format, some use “forum code” and
some use “bb code”. I will provide a text file with the different syntaxes that you
can just paste in your keyword and url. You just have to look for the area on the
forum page that tells you what syntax to use at each forum. It will be easier to
understand once you have done it a couple of times.
Once you have left a backlink, it is often helpful to get the url of your profile and
bookmark it at a few social bookmarking sites and/or ping it.
The screenshots below show an example of what you might see during the forum
backlink process.
After signing up and logging in, this particular forum had a “Settings” link to edit
your profile.
After clicking the Settings link, the following page had this menu along the left
had side. You click on Edit Profile next.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 29
30. Then you should see a edit profile page like this where you can enter in details
about you. You want to look for a field allowing you to input a homepage like the
top circled field and also a biography or about me section like the second circle
below. You can even put two different links in these 2 boxes.
Hopefully seeing this visually helps give you an idea of what to look for.
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 30
31. Social Bookmarking Backlinking: I will keep this one short because it is very
simple. When you find social bookmarking sites, all you have to do is register for
a free account and possibly verify your e-mail address. Once you have done this,
login and look for the button that says something to the effect of “submit story”
“submit url”, “post news”, etc… and submit your url for a backlink. Done and
done.
Wiki Site Backlinking: When you find wiki sites, it is difficult to tell just from
looking if it can be edited, so it is up to you to test. Many wiki sites do not even
require you to sign up for an account to add or edit pages. When you get to a wiki
site, what you want to look for is a button to add pages or edit pages. A common
symbol for adding pages is a + sign. A common symbol for editing pages is a
pencil. If you can add a page, you can create a page using your anchor text then
on that page leave your link. Sometimes I will find a plr article or something to put
on the page and then put my link at the bottom.
Other wiki sites will require you to register before allowing you to add or edit
pages. You will know this is true when you try to add or edit a page, it tells you
that only registered users can perform that action.
Often times you will find a wiki page that has already had a large amount of links
placed on it and in this case I just click the edit button (usually a pencil) and add
my link somewhere in the middle of all the other links.
Here is a look at a wiki page that I found that I was able to edit. I had to sign up
for an account which was very easy. Just look for the create account button. After
clicking edit, the below is what you will see.
You will see the edit button at the top, the second circle around the globe button
will insert the correct linking format that you see circled in the box below it. Just
insert your url and link title in place of what is there.

backlinks for these different platforms. If you have any questions or confusion
still, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help.
Now let’s get into how you can make all this backlinking a little bit easier. Some
of the backlinking can be automated, but the tools that do the best job are a big
investment. That is not to say that they are not worth it if you are ready to make
the investments in your business.
More Efficient Backlinking:
There are not any tools out there that I know of that will make this whole process
of finding the backlinking opportunities and posting to them automatic. But there
are some tools that will help and automate some parts of it. I will cover three of
what I consider the best below.
Scrapebox:
This is probably the best tool out there to scrape websites using the different
advanced search strings you have learned in this guide. You can enter an
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 32
33. advanced search string and several keywords and this tool will scrape thousands
of websites for you from Google, Yahoo and Bing.
This tool also has a built in blog commenter in which you can create spun
comments and tell it to automatically post on a huge list of scraped blogs. It
usually will have a pretty good success rate. Personally I use this tool the most
when using the techniques in Backlink Wizardry and I highly recommend it. It has
a ton of other great built in tools such as a pagerank checker, proxy scraper, RSS
Submission, a trackback poster and a whole lot more. Scrapebox costs a onetime
payment of $97 and receives updates pretty often.
It is a very powerful tool as you learn how to use it. Check out the sales page at
the following link: http://www.backlinkwizardry.com/scrapebox
SENukeX:
SENukeX is a very powerful piece of SEO software that is being used by a ton of
marketers who absolutely love it and. You will find a ton of success stories from
those who use it. However, it is a very expensive piece of software that a lot of
people just cannot afford, coming in at a hefty $147/month unless you can find a
coupon or special link to get it at $127/month. On the plus side, there is a 14-day
trial period to check out the software and see if it is for you.
SENukeX is more of a full on SEO solution than just a tool to implement the
techniques in Backlink Wizardry. You can easily setup advanced linking plans such
as LinkWheels and Link Pyramids. SENukeX will automatically post to dozens of
social bookmarking sites, web 2.0 sites, forum profiles, article sites and more. It
can be setup to automatically create the links in the different advanced linking
formats and will run everything completely automated including account
creation. It truly is a powerful tool, likely the most powerful SEO tool on the
market.
One of the great features of SENukeX that really complements the techniques in
Backlink Wizardry is that you can add forums to the forum profile module of
SENukeX and it will automatically create the accounts and post your links. So by
using the techniques you’ve learned here you can compile dozens or even
Jonathan Heusman – www.backlinkwizardry.com
Page 33
34. hundreds of forums to add to SENukeX and have it automate the entire process of
creating your backlinks. Being that forum profiles have been a very effective SEO
technique for a while now, this is very powerful.
I would not recommend SENukeX for this alone, but if you are searching for a fully
automated SEO solution, this is the tool you want to take a really good look at. It
is a big investment in your business, but if used correctly, can be worth more than
its weight in gold so to speak.
Check out the sales page here: http://www.backlinkwizardry.com/senukex
I only recommend SENuke if you are ready to utilize it to add some serious
backlink building power to your link building campaigns.
Article Marketing Robot:
Article Marketing Robot is the most powerful article submission software out
there. A couple of the really cool benefits of Article Marketing Robot are that you
can add your own articles to the already huge list of article sites to submit to and
you can also add wordpress blogs that it will automatically post to for you. This
pairs well with the techniques in Backlink Wizardry since you now know how to
look for the article directory footprints and find new directories to add to this
tool.
I have not personally used this tool very much, but anytime I have decided to
search for what a good article submission tool would be, Article Marketing Robot
is always the one that I see the most praise for.
Submitting your articles to article directories has always been a great form of
backlinking and this tool makes the tedious task of creating article directory
accounts and filling in all of the article forms super simple and super quick.
Almost hands off really.

Page 34
35. In my opinion these are not only 3 of the top SEO tools on the market, but 3 of
the best SEO tools to complement the techniques in Backlink Wizardry. If you
decide to check any of them out, you will not be disappointed as long as you take
the time needed to learn how to use the tool efficiently and then you actually DO
USE IT.
Automation tools such as these are always great to help you get more done in a
shorter amount of time, but if you can’t afford to invest in one, you can still do all
of the things that they do manually. So don’t let it stop you. Taking action
however you can is the biggest thing you can do.
Outsourcing: One other thing that you can do is to have the backlinking done for
you by outsourcing the work. There are several sites to hire outsourcers or VA’s
(virtual assistants), but ODesk is probably the most popular out there. You can
find outsourcers who will work for as low as $1.00/hr creating backlinks for you.
However, the old adage of you get what you pay for typically holds true with
outsourcing. It can often be difficult to find a reliable, smart, hard working
worker for that low of pay who is also fluent in English.
However, if you do find a worker that does a good job, is trainable and speaks
very good English for a couple bucks an hour, you will want to hang on to them.
Just be aware if you decide to try outsourcing, there is a right way and a wrong
way, and if you end up doing it the wrong way you could burn through a lot of
money with not a lot to show for it. Training for how to properly hire outsourcers
is out of the scope of this guide. However, if you decide to check out the
membership site you are about to find out about, there will be some outsourcing
training in there to teach you about the do’s and don’ts of outsourcing.
I also know a good friend of mine, Jason O has a great product on outsourcing
available that covers all of the do’s and don’ts of outsourcing. Including how and
where to find outsourcers, how to list your jobs to find the best workers, how to
interview potential workers, how to train your workers and how to get the most
bang for your buck when outsourcing.

If you like what he teaches, I highly recommend that you check out his full course
on outsourcing the correct way at: Outsourcing Autopilot
Outsourcing Autopilots has over 50 videos and over 150 documents to teach you
and assist you in outsourcing your business so that you have more free time to do
what you want to do. It will teach you not just how to outsource backlink
creation, but every facet of your business if you would like.
I highly recommend Jason’s product to learn how to outsource right.

37. CHAPTER 8: Conclusion And Additional Thoughts On SEO
An additional trick I like to use is to search for competitor sites that are ranking
very well and see how and where they are getting their backlinks. An easy way to
do this is to head to www.backlinkwatch.com and type in the URL of your
competitors site. This will return a list of their indexed backlinks and you can
check them out and see if you can grab a backlink from their sources as well.
Now to dig a little deeper, you can search for footprints on these pages that you
can use in your advanced search strings. Do this by looking for words in the
footer or special wording on the pages that look like they might be in every
installation of whatever CMS they are using.
Another trick that I like to use is that if I find a blog that has a very large number
of backlinks on it, I look for a generic type of keyword one of the backlinks is using
and use that as a footprint to use in my advanced search strings. So for instance,
say you notice “forex guide” as a backlink keyword. Take that and try using it in a
search such as inurl:blog “forex guide”. There is a good chance that someone or
some company has used that backlink text on a number of sites to gain backlinks,
and now you can piggy back off of their hard work and find all of the backlink
opportunities from the same sources they used.
Now you might be thinking that finding backlinks like this will be very time
consuming, but you don’t have to try to do 100 per night. The most important
things in backlinking are consistency and quality of backlinks. If you can use these
methods to get 10 to 20 good backlinks per day or every other day, then Google
will love you for it because it will look natural and will consistently grow the
backlinks pointing to your site(s). Of course if you want more, you can always
purchase tools or outsource this work for pretty cheap at places like Odesk as we
discussed above.
The key as always is that you take action! And take your newfound wizardry
knowledge to make some magic happen.

38. I don’t want to get too far away from the core of this guide as I have already given
you a lot of actionable information. But I would like to continue helping you
succeed with your SEO activities. There are a lot more SEO techniques to learn
and what you have learned in Backlink Wizardry gives you an amazing core of
knowledge. Knowing what you know now, it will be much easier to build off of
this and understand more advanced techniques that I can teach you and share
with you.
For that reason, I have created a membership site in which I will be sharing all of
my best SEO knowledge, resources and secrets. I will also constantly share new
advanced search strings that I find to be effective, access to exclusive SEO training
and products and best of all you will be part of a community of marketers learning
and sharing how to dominate the SEO game.
Since you trusted me enough to purchase Backlink Wizardry, I want to give you a
special opportunity to just check out and see if the membership is even for you. I
would like to give you a 30-day free trial just as a thank you. If you want, you can
just go in the membership, snag some free downloads and then cancel your
membership, but I hope you will be smart enough to at least give it a chance and
really try it out. The biggest value of a membership forum is the community that
you can share with, learn from and build relationships with.
I can guarantee that the Backlink Wizardry membership will take your SEO skills
and knowledge to a new level and if you use that knowledge it will take your SEO
results to a new level.
Head over to the membership signup page and grab your 30-day free trial to

funnest part of online marketing. Whether it is on-page or off-page SEO, the
intricacies and the art of it are what I love about it most. Not to mention
watching your websites rise through the rankings as you work on your SEO
campaigns.
In my personal life, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and have
worked as a civil engineer for over 6 years. Recently I have decided to truly be

that I made a difference. My hope however is that we can all rise up and reach
our goals together.
