  1. Welcome Introduce self and first part of a 14-19 curriculum
  2. As I said more choices and therefore decisions to make than in previous years. Diploma will appear on screen but to avoid over complicating this I will leave explanation of that to later in the presentation.
  3. Short video The world is changing and shrinking We need to prepare young people for note only their next step in education but their longer term future when they will change jobs and even be engaged in jobs we may have no experience off.
  4. Discuss and give advice but allow youngsters to make their own decisions as they are the ones who will have to study the subjects for 2yrs. Connexions adviser his here this evening if you would like any advice from her. Mrs Denny to advise those with SENs We have maintained a broad and balanced curriculum so that all doors will remain open to students in the future.
  5. As you would expect, except perhaps for The certificate in personal effectiveness. What you see here is predominantly the statutory requirement.
  6. More time will be given to English with even more students being able to take Literature as well as language. Young people are now required to be competent in the Functional skills of English, maths and ICT.
  7. 1 GCSE in Year 10 and a further GCSE in year 11. Separate sciences of Physics, chemistry and biology are available by also Choosing science in the options. 28% of curriculum time so young people will need to love their science and really by planning to study Science at A level. More information available from science staff who are here.
  8. A summary of the core curriculum I have just outlined for you.
  9. Whilst there is more choice and flexibility than in previous years Every option System has constraints and will not be ideal for everyone. The biggest difficulty for young people is ‘what do I give up’ and they will have to think about continuing their interest in some subjects in their own time for pleasure rather than to gain a qualification. Each of the subjects in the options leads to a qualification and therefore requires a certain amount of time.
  10. Some courses will be new to students as they are not studied at KS3 and all lead to recognised qualifications.
  11. Almost confirmed but waiting for a gov list of approved courses. If any we offer are not approved we will contact you with an alternative. Unlikely as BTECs
