A short deck pointing out that nothing in ARRA seems to address educating Americans that they need to keep spending - and educating everyone to this idea will help ARRA have full impact.

2. Problem
Consumer sentiment is very low and discretionary spending is
down almost 10% y/y - and will probably get worse.
ARRA will help, but what has been done to impact the spending
attitudes of Americans who have money / credit to spend.

3. Real example
“Jane” is a 38 year old homemaker in Collin County, Texas. Her
husband is President of a local public company where he has
worked for 20+ years. Their estimated wealth is (was) in excess
of $20MM.
Hubby’s company has seen stock price devalue 67% and they are
in lay-off mode. Jane feels she shouldn’t be “spending money”
like she used to in this economy.
Jane’s attitude and actions only further deepen the Recession.

6. Envisioned campaign
Celebrities, Politicians (?), and the “average American joe/jane” (at
work) talking about how we all need to “keep on keeping on”
30-second daytime and prime-time TV spots - common
message / story being passed from one speaker to the next
Augment with Radio, Print, and Outdoor

7. Challenge to Mark Cuban
Ponder if you think enough has been done to affect American
attitudes about consumer spending
If no, then spend $100K on media and economic consultants to
figure the potential cost and impact of the Education Campaign
proposed
If ROI appears positive, call up other Billionaires (Warrent Buffet, et
al) and encourage them to donate/fund the campaign (they could
even star in it, too)
