1. Media Center November Newsletter Issue: November 1, 2011 Created by: Autumn Schaffer iSteep Testing The library will be closed on Wednesday, November 9 for Isteep Testing. The scoring and reporting staff will meet and work within the media center at this time. The testing will last all day. There will be no check outs, returns, or class research time during this day. Cataloging New Books We are in the process of catloging new sets of books that have arrived. Some of these books are within kits ordered for science. Our most anicipated set, however, are based upon the professional football series. In this collection there is a book based upon each of the major football teams in the U.S. Since our sporting section is one of the most popular and frequently circulated, we anticpate many of the students wanting to see what these books are all about! Projects on Display The media center is currently host to several project exhibits created by students. The third grade students created Indian villages and scenes based upon geometric shapes. The fourth grade students have researched the different types of Native Americans in their social studies class and have created exhibits based upon what they have learned about each groupâs culture.
2. Fall Festival Planning The Fall Festival will be held on November 4 at 6:00. This will serve as a PTO meeting. Shortly after the business meeting the parents and students will be allowed to play games set up within the gym. This year the committee decided that these games will be academic based. The media center will host a game based upon reading words (sight words for younger students). This will work sort of like a live game board and as the student reads the word correctly, he or she will get to move up a spot.
