With the emergence of Internet marketing being a recent
profession there is no formal training in the art of being an
online marketer, so it makes it a little daunting to the in
experienced person seeing the end result, but not
knowing how to get there. You require the assistance of a
mentor, so here we will discuss the qualities of a good
                Online Marketing mentor.
You know the end result that you are looking for, of being
financially free, having the time freedom to enjoy life with
family and friends, living life on your terms and not having
your life dictated to you by your job and income level.
That is all the end result, but getting there using this
'vehicle' of internet marketing is the slight issue to many.
With any profession in life from doctors to solicitors to
trades people etc they all learnt their skills and knowledge
from some else. Depending on where and who they have
learnt from determines how good, or bad they are. Having
a mentor is not uncommon. Mentors help athletes, to
royalty, to actors, to companies, to sport stars. They turn
the good to great. Where would Luke Skywalker be
without Yoda? Would Harry Potter have been a great
wizard without going to Hogwarts? Would Bruce Lee have
been as good with learning Win Chun from grand master
Ip Man? The list goes on.
The same principle applies here with Internet Marketing,
so this article is to highlight the 4 qualities of a good
Online Marketing mentor. Someone who will openly share
and teach you the things you need to learn in order for
you to succeed, before you have departed with your
money and not seen the result you need.
Quality number 1 of a good online marketing mentor:Do
they have solid experience in this field? It is fairly easy to
pick out the people that have a deep level of
understanding and knowledge on one particular topic, or a
solid knowledge base on various topics to do with online
marketing. Their knowledge will be shown in the form of
article, blogs, information on a website etc. How much
information have they put out there for people to learn
from, for free? The more they have the better. Look for
their 'internet real estate'. Do they own a small trailer for
a house, or a 6 bedroom mansion with its own tennis
court, swimming pool and games room? As men we may
have had to justify ourselves by saying, "It's not the size
that matters". But in this occasion it really does. The
bigger the better... internet real estate that is.
Quality number 2 of a good online marketing
mentor:Everyone needs to make a living, so it would be
unfair to expect a mentor to give all their knowledge and
experience away for free. The fine balance they need to
find is how much to give away for free and how much to
charge for. If however the answer you get from your
mentor is always "Buy my product" then I think you have
to be careful and analyse the true intentions of that
mentor. Are they just looking out for themselves or are
they being the leader that you want in your life and giving
themselves selflessly? Are they being the leader that will
help you, or just help them?
Quality number 3 of a good online marketing mentor:Can
you contact them freely and openly by phone or by email?
The purpose of a mentor is so that they can guide you,
help you and keep you on the right path. There might be a
slight problem to that if they don't answer or return your
calls or emails for help. I am not saying they have to be at
your personal assistant just waiting and anticipating your
every call or email, or have to reply within 5 minutes
because that suits you. They will have their own life and
commitments so treat the relationship like a business and
try and make a contact schedule that fits both of your
diaries. If the mentor is quick to take your money, yet slow
to provide you the help they promised then walk away my
friend. A good indicator of how the relationship is likely to
be is how much contact you have with the mentor and the
Quality number 4 of a good online marketing mentor: Do
they hold you accountable and challenge you, or just pat
your ego? A good leader and mentor will help you
understand and see things from a different perspective.
They will engage your brain into a paradigm shift of
understanding the way you perceive things may not be the
                        only way.
Einstein's theory of insanity was to do the same thing over
and over again yet expect a different result. A strong
leader and mentor will not be a yes person and let you
think everything you are doing is brilliant and just dangle a
carrot out in front of you to carry on as you are, they will
help you change your mindset, in order to change your
result. Does the mentor help inspire you to go on a
journey of self development and self awareness, or just let
you be the way you are right now? So before going into
partnership with the mentor be open and ask how they
are going to help you on your self development journey,
and listen out for the passion in what they are saying.
In summary then, when you chose an online marketing
mentor make sure you tick of the above 4 qualities. You
have Hobson's choice in the matter (you have no choice).
If you were going to try and do a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle
would you try and do it without looking at the picture on
the box and referring to it as you went along, or would
you try and do it just based on trying to fit the pieces
together that you thought need to go together. A no
brainer really!! But 97% of people that enter the online
marketing arena learn a little here, a little there and try
and put things together not really knowing what the heck
they are doing and then scratch their heads wondering
why it didn't work, and more importantly why there is
such a huge hole in their wallet. The 3% that select the
right mentor to work with achieve the success they want.
Find your Yoda my friend and unlock the true potential
                     within you.
You already have 99% on what you need to succeed in life,
but you are brainwashed, conditioned and compressed
into thinking that you need to be employed and that you
can't become an online marketing entrepreneur. Your
brain is conditioned from a young age to fear the unknown
and listen to the little voice inside your head that stops
you from moving forward in life, telling you to stay in your
comfort zone. The right leader and mentor will simply give
you the final 1% you need to become the full 100% you
need to be to succeed in life.
