feature in my magazine as a
result of appealing to my
target audience. I will go into
more detail regarding their
genre, target audience and
musical influences because
a wide variety or artists
could feature under the subgenre of pop.
These artists appear to
particularly target teens and
young adults as well as
leaning towards focusing on
females, so my magazine
shall aim for the same
target audiences.

2. Lady Gaga
GENRE: pop, dance, electronic & rock
TARGET AUDIENCE: Predominantly targets females through
occasional usage of the theme of feminism. Also targets teens
and young adults.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Mainly David Bowie, Michael Jackson,
Madonna, Queen but Britney Spears and Cher have also been
cited as influences.
Katy Perry
GENRE: pop, dance, electronic & rock
TARGET AUDIENCE: Predominantly females – age range from
teens to younger adults.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Madonna, Freddie Mercury, Alanis
Morissette
Ke$ha
GENRE: pop, electronic, dance & hip hop
TARGET AUDIENCE: Mainly teens but also young adults.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Madonna, Queen, Beck, Dolly Parton
and Iggy Pop.

3. Adele
GENRE: soul, R&B & pop
TARGET AUDIENCE: Mainly young adults and adults.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Etta James, Beyoncé, Gabrielle and
P!nk.
Marina And The Diamonds
GENRE: pop rock, indie pop, new wave, synthpop, dance-pop &
electropop
TARGET AUDIENCE: Predominantly females but young adults
and teens
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: A variety from Daniel Johnston,
Blondie, Kylie Minogue, PJ Harvey and Britney Spears

TARGET AUDIENCE: Young adults as well as teens – both male
and female.

4. Lily Allen
GENRE: pop, synthpop, indie pop, brit pop (as well as ska &
reggae fusion in earlier days)
TARGET AUDIENCE: Also predominantly females with songs
taking a feminine perspective. Also appears to target young
adults.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: ska influences throughout first album
with jazz improvisation techniques also being used to influence
melodies.
Taylor Swift
GENRE: country, country pop, pop & pop rock
TARGET AUDIENCE: Teens and young adults, the majority of
which are females.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Shania Twain, Stevie Nicks, Carly
Simpson
Robyn
GENRE: synthpop, dance-pop & R&B
TARGET AUDIENCE: Females as well as young adults in
general.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Variety of genres, most specifically
electronica, rap, R&B and new age.
