3. FIRST SHOTS- CONTENTS PAGE
• When taking my contents page shots, I looked for different ideas so I
could offer a range in my music magazine. I also choose to look at
different levels and angles which make shots look more effective.
• My focus was more on the outfit and who looked more engaging with the
audience when doing my medium shots.
• Once again I choose three models to participate so I could get a clearer
idea of what works best with what.
• I also did not use these images for the contents page as after taking these
shots I felt I already had a medium close up for my front cover, so my
contents page had to offer something different preferably a different type
of shot to make it more eye catching.

• At first my initial thoughts were to
use this picture for my contents page
over the other two. I then
manipulated and edited the image as
shown. Then to discover it would
come to better use on a double page
spread. However I did not use it in
the end.
• The image is well
presented making the
model look natural and the
makeup chosen is not to
heavy and is really
complimenting. Also when
choosing the outfit I
continued the idea of
natural beauty with the
‘white’ clothing and
accessories.

• I got my ideas for this shot off a current hip-hop music magazine VIBE. I
saw the contents page and instantly thought it would appeal to my target
audience as it has a sexual seductive approach featuring celeb CIARA
compared to the natural look of my front cover.
• When choosing my clothing I also considered what the celeb on vibe was
wearing which was a tight leotard and heels. The main focus was on her
strong powerful legs and her eye contact with the audience that gave a feel
of female dominance.
• I choose to use this idea with my two models however model two was not
comfortable in wearing the tight clothing.

• I did not use this shot as I
didn’t feel it was very
powerful. The model looks
slightly uncomfortable and
her leg stance was not as
high and upright as I had
planned.
• The costume I choose also
did not go exactly to plan
as it makes her look
slightly bare and
uncomfortable.
• Also her facial expression
is slightly vacant and I
didn’t feel it engaged at all.

image for my contents
page as I felt it was very
strong. The eye contact
was spot on and her
legs and the costume
made my aim of sexual
but powerful came
through.
• I manipulated the
image so it stood out
against my silver
background I planned
to do and to show her
facial features better.
