1. Task 3: Advert ideas
Magazine Advert:
1.
My idea for a magazine advert would be an image of a daredevil stunt
being performed. Somewhere in the photo will be a can of Irn-Bru,
this will be edited into the photo through Photoshop. The idea behind
this will be that the extreme stunt is being performed in order to get
their hands on a can of Irn Bru. Also in the advert will be the slogan
“What would you do, for a can of Irn-Bru?. This will add some
humour to the program playing to the consumer that Irn-Bru is so
delicious that people will do the most extreme stunts to gain a can of
the product.
2.
My second idea for a magazine advert would be the image from the
2012 Olympic games. The scene will be Chris Hoy winning a race at
the London velodrome. The exact image would be Hoy lifting is arms
up in celebration after he crosses the finish line. Into his hands I
would Photoshop an oversized can of Irn-Bru. The slogan
accompanying this image would be “Irn Bru, the drink of champions”.
Web Banner:
3.My first idea for a web banner would before the image of WWE
wrestler Booker T winning the world wrestling championship. I will
Photoshop the title bands out of his hands and instead there will be a
can of Irn-Bru. The slogan that will appear on the web banner will be
a slight edit on the wrestlers catchphrase “Can you dig it sucker?” and
will instead read: “Irn Bru, can you dig it sucker?”. This will add
humour to the campaign and add a face that is recognizable to its
British audience where wrestling is immensely popular.
4.My second idea for a web banner would be a simple vertical web
banner with the words Irn Bru 32 on it. At the bottom of the web
banner would be Mel Gibson depicted; William Wallace from the
movie Braveheart. Instead of a holding a spear he will have a can of
2. Irn Bru in his hand. This will resonate with Scottish consumers, as
William Wallace is a Scottish cultural icon and hero.
Can Design:
5.
My first idea for a can design would be a can with a colour scheme of
Irn Bru’s traditional colours; blue and orange. On this can will be
bubbles thus will show the consumer that the drink is carbonated
and therefore act as attractive design. Putting nutritional
information in a bubble shape as well as any additional information
may also prevent this information from becoming an unattractive eye
sore to the can design, like it does on many other drink cans in the
market. Also on the can will be a young boy drinking a bottle of Irn
Bru. The bottle and the boy can remained darkened out with no
detail apart from the orange glow of the Irn-Bru inside the bottle.
This will create an attractive image to any potential consumers,
showing that Irn Bru brings light to any dark situation with its
attractive orange girder glow. Accompanying this image will be the
slogan: “Irn Bru, get it down ya”, the “ya” fits in with the can as it has
commonplace in Scottish speech and especially works in the Scottish
accent.
