3. WHY TWITTER?
Simple premise
Thriving local communities
The businesses you want to work for are on it. Trust me.
If you’re using social media to find a job, chances are, the
companies using it are also social media savvy. They know
the tricks and know how to spot fakes.

4. ON TO THE LIST!
Establish yourself, even just a little
Make genuine connections
It’s not what you tweet, it’s how you tweet
Have fun!

5. ESTABLISH YOURSELF
Create an online presence; it doesn’t need to be big and
fancy, just consistent across all platforms
Don’t forget about other virtual outlets; blogs, other social
media outlets such as Foursquare, etc
Before beginning your job search, set up a Twitter account
and actually USE it. Don’t let it lie dormant!

6. MAKE GENUINE CONNECTIONS
Add people to your twitter stream! That’s the whole point,
isn’t it?
Look around for people in the area you live or wish to work.
If they interest you, follow them!
Don’t go on an adding spree; find people in your
community who genuinely interest you
Real people can smell fakes a mile away; do not be a fake!

7. IT’S NOT WHAT YOU TWEET, IT’S
HOW YOU TWEET
It does not matter what you say in your tweets, as long as
you are passionate about what you DO tweet about
Engage in real conversations that interest you. Don’t spam
businesses or individuals in your job search. You will reek
of desperation. (And everyone will smell it.)

8. HAVE FUN!
THIS is the most important part!
Do NOT keep your Twitter relations strictly virtual; in order
to actually land a job, you NEED to talk to businesses face
to face (don’t be a hermit!)
Tweetups! These are the best things ever. Seriously.
If you approach events the right way, it will feel like
hanging out with your friends as opposed to networking.
This is awesome.

9. HAVE MORE FUN!
Talk to everyone you meet, and be genuinely interested.
Don’t just talk to people and hope they’ll give you work.
Follow up with your new friends! This is as easy as an
@reply to those you spoke to at the event. See? Easy!
Don’t take yourself too seriously.
